(HUGS) to you, too.
The champagne is in the refrigerator along with the smoked salmon. The crusty French bread is sitting on the counter.

The champagne is in the refrigerator along with the smoked salmon. So is mine. Gonna char a steak in a minute on my brand-new grill. What could possibly go wrong?

That’s a good one! Stole it for my Facebook page! :)

Having just seen a documentary about Richard Pryor on Showtime, the thought of fire scares me just a bit. Actually, a lot.
In Seattle, I could watch the KING-TV/5 New Years event at the Space Needle, but here in Georgia I'll just have to settle for the regular stuff on the networks.

This is what I remember as New Year's Eve from my youth:
Guy Lombardo's Final New Year's Eve Appearance - New Year's Eve 1976-1977
By no means the best, but I'd rather see a lot of tipsy revelers in the Waldorf-Astoria dancing to Guy Lombardo and the Royal Canadians than a bunch of millennials twerking and mouthing obscenities to some barbaric anthem.
Call me old-fashioned, elitist, curmudgeonly, mossback, whatever! I remember when civility still prevailed. We need to bring those days back.

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Aw, not to worry. I couldn't find any propane but I got this old tank of acetylene that should do just fine.
On a serious note, Pryor was a changed man after that incident. I saw a special he put together about recovering and what it was like to be a burn patient. Baths shouldn't make you scream. And the people who cared for him - guess what? The color of their skin didn't matter. Neither did his - it was coming off. Harrowing and grimly funny stuff. I came to a whole new respect.
Happy New Year!
