MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry offered an apology to the Romney family on Tuesday after a panel on her show mocked the fact that one of Mitt Romney's grandchildren was black.
On Sunday's "Melissa Harris-Perry" show, Harris-Perry led a panel in discussing the "Photos of the Year," which included a Romney family Christmas photo. In the photo, Romney is seen holding his adopted grandchild, Kieran, who is black.

Perhaps YOU would be better served by exercising a little restraint and hold back your holier-than-thou attacks on fellow FReepers.
Your claim of "friends and allies" has little credence in light of your absence over the past year in contributing any posts that would substantiate your claim of being an "ally" with the Inmans.
You state "the attack on Romney was also an attack on you and me and every other person holding to conservative values."
There is grave doubt among many on this site as to the "conservative values" of Romney, and your continued attack on the Inmans on this thread, "That so many Inmans could not see the folly of their zeal is disenheartening." does nothing to enhance your profile here and comes close to violating forum rules.
There is a time to speak and a time to keep silent.
Check your own clock.
You pinged me to this thread requesting that I comment on one of the posts. I did comment. I thought it was out of line. Then you attacked me for giving my honest opinion. I didn’t request your input on my post. You could have left the post alone, but instead you had to break new ground in your attacks on me.
What I said was an honest opinion as to what I thought about the post that you invited me to comment on. If you hadn’t pinged me and every other Inman to pat greybeard on the back for his non-sequitur attack on someone who made a simple platitude about the Romney family, then this thread would not have gone sideways.
I stand by my statement that the attack on Romney made in the context of their grandson being ridiculed by the MSM because he is black was uncalled for and out of line.
I have since requested that my name be removed from your ping list. If this is how you treat your friends and allies when they disagree with one post then I no longer wish to be associated with your group.
Maranatha
Conservative values? Romney is a total fraud. Pro-abortion, pro-homo-agenda, pro-gun-control, pro-statism, promandates. Not one single conservative accomplishment to his name. Father of homo marriage and ObamaCare. Says anything to try to get elected. Is nothing but a LIAR!! I have no sympathy for him whatsoever.
If she thought Romney was as liberal as he actually is, then she would never have ridiculed him. She was under the assumption that by attacking him that she would be attacking us.
Ok, thanks.
Jim, there would be no shortage of babies hispanic, oriental or Russian, for a Romney to adopt. I smell a political attempt in the future for one or more of Mitt's sons and this smacks of tokenism.
See my tagline.
Yeah. I mean, it’s nice she put it out on Twitter, but I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to apologize on the same forum you put it out on in the first place.
and the Romneys could care less what is said about them
as long as they are foremost in the minds of the voters and the topic of conversation at the dinner table...
just like ObamaCare..
talk about signing up for ObamaCare
Talk about how “wonderful” and what “victims” the poor Romney family is and therefore Willard is deserving of everyones votes...
same same...
Thanks for the non ping. My reply was in no way, "an attack". When this black child's situation first came to my attention, my first thoughts were that although by becoming a Romney, he will also inherit many privileges and stands to gain much in life but also is in very much danger of losing so much more in the life to come and that, for eternity.
He would be better off in a poor but Christian family, black or white.
That's not an attack, that's a simple truth.
I can think of no other politician or political family that I would attribute those motives to, other than the Romneys. Romney is, was and always will be a liberal, promoting himself and liberalism, whether it be abortion, homosexuality, big government and every other liberal cause one may think of.
As an ex-mo who posts on topics concerning mormonism, I can’t find much to disagree with here...
Being “branded” as slime or many of the other more colorful adjectives just comes with the territory around here I guess, not that one must like or accept it.
I get a sense that many here just don’t know how to accept disagreement over an opinion or topic without viewing it as an “attack”, thus the “irons in the fire” to brand folks.
I have to agree with Marlowe on this one...there are times when I believe the line is pushed too far...
By the Hand of Providence he is exactly where the Lord put him.
God is in control of his destiny. I was born into a 5th Generation Mormon Family and I am none the worse for wear. The Inmans have dozens of members who, by the Grace of God, have been saved in spite of their childhood upbringing. Yet somehow they think that being adopted by a model Mormon family, like they grew up in, is somehow a sentence of eternal damnation.
I commend the father and mother of this new child for having the courage to bring this child into their family. The child is in good hands because that Child is in God's hands.
Read back a ways and you will see who accused who of an "attack". I never said it except in quoting the person who accused me of an "attack".
Just an observation in general about FR...not directed at you specifically Gray, my apologies if I gave you that impression.
I’ve seen more and more disagreements about topics or comments here on FR met with responses such as; “hater”, “bigot”, “mental midget”, “slime”, etc. instead of meeting the debate head on and engaging in discourse, however heated. But to degenerate into name calling serves no useful purpose and only serves to alienate FReepers from one another.
Folks are even resorting to keeping “special lists” of other FReepers they hold in contempt simply because there is disagreement on topics. This does not bode well...
I commend the father and mother of this new child for having the courage to bring this child into their family. The child is in good hands because that Child is in God’s hands.

then you agree with Willard that 2 homosexuals “in a loving relationship” should be allowed to adopt a child ???
after all “the child is in good hands because that Child is in God’s hands”
Don’t post to me anymore.
Thank you.
Eh ???
Do not post to me again.
I don’t think I can make myself clearer.
Eh ???
