Pedophilia has been widely viewed as a psychological disorder triggered by early childhood trauma.
Now, many experts see it as a biologically rooted condition that does not change — like a sexual orientation — thanks largely to a decade of research by Dr. James Cantor at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Cantor’s team has found that pedophiles share a number of physical characteristics, including differences in brain wiring. It’s now thought that about 1 to 5 per cent of men are pedophiles, meaning they are primarily attracted to children.
These findings have been widely accepted among scientists, but have had little impact on social attitudes or law. However, we are left with the alarming question: if some men are born pedophiles, what should society do with them?

Interestingly, child sexual abuse is the first stop on the well worn path to making a serial killer. So being a serial killer is OK in this view as well, right? Just an extension of the serial killers sexual orientation. What's a few dead bodies if the guy is just practicing a sexual orientation.

It just muddies the issue to extend a clear definition and concept to the thought crime arena, and the dogmatic activists, oblivious to the original definition, can't grasp the counterproductive results.
Actions should always be the punishable crime with the severest penalties, without exception, as society decides. Absolutely! Let me add, sexual assault on a child male or female is despicable.
The pedophile steals the child's innocence. Often times sexual encounters with adults children trust destroys the child's ability to trust, to reason between right and wrong regarding relational issues/healthy sexual relations as adults.
Adult survivors of child sexual abuse often struggle with drug/alcohol addiction, serial marriage, flash anger, hyper-sexual issues such as pornography addiction.
I am very close to an individual who suffered at the hands of a pedophile as a child. Trust me, this person has suffered a lifetime. He held the secret for 40 years for fear of being humiliated, fear of shame, guilt, fear folks would label him as a possible abuser or a homo.
I pray God's provision for him.

It will gradually become accepted much as homosexuality has been and by the same methods.
First: introduce goofy/funny characters in mainstream media to gain “acceptance” of these individuals ala Billy Crystal in Soap and the Jack Tripper character in Three’s Company.
Second: introduce a serious character on a prime-time show with a brief appearance to gauge audience reaction
Third: make character more permanent if push-back was small
Fourth: APA reclassifies behavior as normal
Fifth: Begin the silencing of all opposition by using words such as pedophobic, intolerant, etc.
imagine thus clown..studying...doing research on perverts...for an entire decade?
if I didnt have much in the way of common sense or any moral underpinnings to speak of.. that alone would tell me enough about his fascination....with the “subject” to discount eveything he had to say.
