Israeli officials reacted with bitter scorn to a Christmas message from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in which he called Jesus a Palestinian and suggested Israel was to blame for the exodus of Christians from the Holy Land.
He should have read the Gospel before uttering such offensive nonsense, but we will forgive him because he doesnt know what hes doing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor told The Times of Israel on Monday. Abbass statement is an outrageous rewriting of Christian history, according to Palmor.
Earlier on Monday, Abbas published a lengthy Christmas greeting, calling Jesus a Palestinian messenger who would become a guiding light for millions around the world. Although he expressed his commitment to the peace negotiations with Israel, he expressed harsh criticism of Israeli policies, including an accusation that Jerusalem is responsible for the plight of Christians in the Holy Land.

Hard to see how one could be both Macedoniam (white, white, white) and Nubian (black by any defintion).
Of course, there could be an illegitimate mixing. But the Greeks of all stipes were pretty conscious of their lineage.
I’d place a huge amount of money on Clepatra being white.
LOL ... in case you didn’t know it ... Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is not a left-slanted government ... :-) ...
What we see as the current and modern state of Israel - did not exist prior to 1948 (going all the way back to ancient Israel - which was completely obliterated and destroyed by the Romans).
In fact, before Ben Gurion announced it - no one even knew what the modern Jewish State was going to be called. Even the “insiders” didn’t know what it was going to be called. Even on Presodent Truman’s official recognition of the State of Israel, you can see the previous typed name scratched out and the “given name” scribbled on that official piece of paper.
So, prior to 1948, it was entirely appropriate for all those people there to call themselves - exactly as they did call themselves - Palestinian Jews and Palestinian Arabs.
The Jews changed their name, when they got their state and the Palestinian Arabs simply dropped the “Arab” part after the Jews abandoned their previous designation.
Those are the simple facts of history, no matter whether it works with someone else’s “narrative” or it works against their “narrative.”
You sure about that? I look at actions over words.
Never mind past precedent not being a justification for anything.
psst: freeze in architectural decoration is spelled frieze :-)
that would be "Nubian"
No, that was not the case. It was always outsiders that used the “Palestine” terminology, especially the League of Nations. The Ottoman Empire called the region “Southern Syria” before that.
Even the League of Nations recognized separate countries for the nations living in “Mandatory Palestine”. Everybody knew that the Jews wanted to call the land “Eretz Yisrael” even before Ben Gurion’s announcement, which the League of Nations already knew and even announced.
“Jesus was not of this earth. Period.”
AMEN to that.
Rather Jesus WAS from Heaven via the land of Israel.
....Bring in the popcorn!
Am I sure? Yeah ... look up info about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party and see if they are leftists ... :-) ...

thank you for the correction
Yet if my memory serves me correct, the orginal plan was as planned by the early UN to divide the country, on the left of the Jordan River Israel, Jordan or Trans-Jordan on the right side of the Jordan in the years 1946-47.
The sad reality is that, despite Jordan fighting to keep the Palis out, the majority of folks living in Jordan are of that heritage. Frankly it is an effort not to become like what happened to Egypt during the so-called “Arab spring.”
Words mean nothing; Wikipedia (the “encyclopedia” that anyone can edit) means less, especially when it’s polluted with liberal editors.
Ariel Sharon was also Likud, yet he presided over the unilateral forced exile of Jews from the Gaza Strip. (And he did this before he left Likud to create Kadima, too.) Prior to his stroke, he was going to do the same thing to the West Bank.
Jordanians have no common heritage with “Palestinian” Arabs.
I’m sorry, but you cannot show that David Ben Gurion even whispered to ANYONE the name of the new state before it was officially announced.
And, again, just look at the official recognition statement from President Truman (given just minutes after the state came into being), where it was scratched out and written over with the proper name we now know.
And you mention the Ottomon Empire ... they were one of a long string of governing powers over that land. But what you see on maps (the old ones) is that while a governing power is recognized as controlling in that land (and that was recognized on the maps) — it also was called Palestine.
The Jerusalem Post wasn’t called the “Palestine Post” for no reason at all ... LOL ...
Then, since you mention it, the League of Nations did call it the PALESTINE MANDATE ... :-) ...

Merry Christmas!
Seems to me that Christians, although a small minority there, live quite comfortably in Israel. In moslem lands....not so much.
It’s a country in which the people who live there and vote there know that the Likud (and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu) is a politically “right” party — whether you know it or not ... :-) ...
And, by the way, being “politically right” is known by the Jews there, the Arabs there ... and ... even the Islamic terrorists there. It would seem that you might be the only one who doesn’t know that.
That’s like saying the GOP is a “politically ‘right’ party” because “the people who live there and vote there (in the USA) know” such a thing. Facts and actions tell a different story in both cases (Likud and GOP), and Likud was composed of quite liberal elements from its inception too.
You must be listening to a lot of left-leaning Jews, presuming you are talking to inhabitants of the land that the West sometimes calls the Levant.
