A&E was hit by a 12-gauge Duck Dynasty backlash Thursday as religious and conservative groups denounced the network for suspending the reality shows gay-bashing star whose family suggested it could be the end.
Supporters of show patriarch Phil Robertson who in a magazine interview compared homosexuality to bestiality called for a boycott of the cable network.

“A&E wants the 2% to carry their network, let them do it. DD is bigger than A&E.”
Yep. Ask Penneys how that worked out.
Absolutely right. They have succeeded in making people debate a lie.
Wait for it to be posted to YouTube 5 mins after the first show ends.
Take the 14million views to Youtube, leaving a&e with a couple hundred thousand. Repeat for each new episode.
Hey, the more money they know they will be losing in (lack of) future seasons, the better.
“Here is the perfect example of media today - he never said this.”
Well, he did include both on a list of several inappropriate activities, including spousal cheating, out of wedlock sex, and group sex...but it wasn’t a deep comparison as implied.
We are in violent agreement, FRiend. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Dilema...do we continue to watch the final episodes or not?
Wait for them to hit Hulu or some other to reduce income to A&E?
Thank you. Same to you and your family.
I object to the description of Mr. Robertson’s comments as “homophobic.” As far as I can tell, Mr. Robertson did not e press a fear (phobia) toward homosexuals. He just called homosexuality as he saw it — a sin.
Let’s all remember that A&E is 50% owned by Disney. So if you want to make that network hurt for its decision, the same as it wanted Phil to hurt for his, then do the following:
1) Call or email A&E and tell them that you are not going to watch DD or any other show on their network again - and actually do that;
2) Also tell A&E that you are going to ask your cable company to take A&E off of your service, and contact several key A&E advertisers - and actually do that;
3) Do the same with Disney as 1 & 2 above, plus tell them that there are plenty of places to vacation besides Disneyland/world, plenty of places to shop besides the Disney store and plenty of stations to watch besides A&E and the Disney Channel - and actually don’t patronize or watch them.
This is a simple one, folks - this is a liberal fascist attack on freedom of thought and expression, and attempt to use money (or lack thereof) to shut up someone with whom they disagree. Well, 2 can play at that game, and our side of that equation has a lot more clout than A&E and Disney combined, provided that we actually let them know what we are going to do and why.
I don’t even watch DD - but this action by A&E really ticks me off. What really is ironic about this is that the network seems surprised that a guy from the backwoods of Louisiana who hunts, sports a long beard and prays at his dinner table would have views like this. DUH! Also, it is pretty clear that Phil was speaking for...drumroll...PHIL, not A&E. This is an utter outrage.
It is time that this battle be joined, rather than those with traditional and time-tested moral beliefs being nothing more than punching bags for the immoral relativists.
They should sue for religious discrimination.
I’m torn....
I almost think the Robertson’s making the statement as they did is a subtle way to say don’t watch the show.
Once again, they falsely say that Robertson compared homosexuality to bestiality. They were both listed - along with other things - as sexual practices forbidden by the Bible. But to include various items in a list is not to say that they are all the same - to “compare” them - but to say that they have something in common, i.e., that they are forbidden and that they relate to sexual behavior. You can say that rape and lying and murder are all prohibited, but that is not to “compare” them or to say they are equivalent to one another.
Sales of DD sugar cookies at Wal*Mart SKYROCKET in the week leading up to Chistmas.
If your show is successful, that show has a pick of the networks.
Look at Anthony Bourdain.
Agreed. It should read, “He preached the Gospel, and homosexuals are having a hissy fit!”
One of the most impressive things about this episode is how everyone, including a lot of otherwise sane people, have adopted the terms “gay-bashing” and “hate-filled rant” to describe quite ordinary remarks tha most people, if they gave it half a thought, would agree with.
Things are moving along very quickly, now.
