The Robertson family released a statement Thursday night in response to the A&E network's decision to suspend patriarch Phil Robertson over comments the family patriarch made to GQ Magazine on homosexuality:
"We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E's decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil's unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart" and "Love your neighbor as yourself." Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family."

when one door is closed another one will open.
i hope a year from now A&E is history and DD goes on successfully.
i will support them wherever they go.
May the wind be at your back Duck Commander and family.
Just make sure to buy only Duck Commander merchandise, so the profit goes to the Robertsons. A&E owns the Duck Dynasty name and gets that money, so read labels.
A&E doesn’t understand this culture. First they insulted the patriarch by implying he didn’t have freedom of speech when he wasn’t being filmed for their show. Secondly, they ‘suspended’ him like some dang 8yr old elementary kid. In doing so they insulted the whole family. The family is now honor bound to be ‘done with’ A&E. Barring an outright apology from A&E I don’t see DD continuing.
I would have been shocked had the family continued with the show.
Now is the time that we should use our economic power over these media company bootlickers and panderers
I've had a feeling for a few months that Phil has been very unhappy with A&E over their editing out Jesus' name from the closing moments of the show where Grace is said before family dinner.
I would not be surprised if the really-real is that he picked a fight a few weeks ago and we are just now seeing it at the surface.
Stop buying Duck Dynasty/A&E merchandise.
Buy it straight from Buck Commander.
I’m watching Catalina Caper as we speak.
It means that Duck Dynasty can film their show on any channel, just change the name of the show and move on.
“We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right.”
We need to make the liberals understand that Phil’s constitutional rights are being violated by A&E.
They might have said to the Robertson's "we like what you said but we are going to have to take a position in opposition to protect our public persona."
"We will suspend you for a while and then forget the whole thing."
As many have said, A&E knew the facts about Duck Dynasty and the Robertsons...they are not stupid.
That's exactly what I've been waiting to hear from the family. I knew that's how they'd come down on this.
"Test it, examine it...wait for the truth to come out."
Phil is still happy, happy, happy. A&E is stupid, stupid, stupid.
Pray America is Waking
I have never watched the show. Whatever network they land on after ditching the PC cowards at A&E I will be watching.
And recommending it to friends.
God put him here for a reason. Mission accomplished.
“A&E knew who the Robertsons were when they created the show, but thought they’d be the black minstrels for the urban elitists snobs to laugh at over their red wine cocktails. But all of this has backfired on them, as the Heartland America has rallied in support of the Robertsons.”
Best synopsis I’ve read on this situation.
Kudos FRiend
One of the DD wives said in a much earlier interview that if things went bad, they would not allow the show to tear the family apart. Good for them.
Family, and faith. An anathema to liberals. A & E and libs wont be pushing that family around.
Great idea!
The 1st Amendment only protects your right to free speech, as it pertains to the federal government. You can't be prosecuted for speaking your mind about that institution.
Private institutions are entirely another matter. If your employer doesn't like the things you say, they have the right to terminate their relationship with you (and vise versa).
Now, whether that makes good business sense or not, is another question. In this particular case, it was completely boneheaded of A&E to fire Phil Robertson for what he said.
