Louisiana is famous for celebrating Mardi Gras every spring, but it’s also home to worst drivers in the U.S.

Thanks for residents’ failure to buckle up, driving carelessly and racking up tickets, CarInsuranceComparison.com says drivers in the Pelican State are the worst in the country, coming in the number one- spot for those three offenses.

CarInsuranceComparison.com ranked the 10 worst states for drivers, pulling statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the National Motorists Association and Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The five categories for each state’s score are ranked by fatalities rate per 100 million vehicle miles traveled, the failure to obey traffic signals and seat belt laws, drunk driving, tickets and careless driving.

1. Louisiana 2. South Carolina 3. Mississippi 4. Texas 5. Alabama 6. Florida 7. Missouri (tie) 7. North Carolina (tie) 9 Montana 10. North Dakota

Never mind that all of these are Red States and it is no surprise that that the MSM would target these Red States of America.

In Massachusetts red lights are merely advisory.

I’m saying the same about Pennsylvania.

PA is not a good place for drivers or pedestrians. Too many idiots.

As an aside, Korean drivers are terrible. The bus drivers all had TV sets that they watched while driving, just to give an idea.

And I don’t know about the whole state, but the Dallas metro is craaaaaaazy. Bumper to bumper at 80 mph...punctuated by sitting still in traffic for 45 minutes, because amazingly people have accidents going bumper to bumper at 80 mph.

Don’t know but I quit driving several years ago. Actually only had one speeding ticket in my life.

I've spoken with people from all over the country, and everybody agrees that Massachusetts drivers are crazy.

Red Hampshire drivers have lead feet, but when you see a driver do something exceptionally stupid; just look at the plates...Massghanistan, 9 times out of 10.

Best...ya Ill agree but not at anything positive. In MA fast and aggressive = road rage, wrecks, the single finger salute and a strong desire not to drive around such ‘experts’. I think they were called ma$$holes first b/c of their lousy driving and later on b/c of their unwanted infestation of the other 49 states.

Bah! Virginians drive fine... unless there’s a snowflake in sight.

Massachusetts has rhe worst drivers- though they do well in snow.

I found the same thing in the Dallas metro - also in Los Angeles, and in the approaching corridors to Washington DC.

Absolutely nuts dangerous.

Of course, drivers don’t want to be bothered to inform other drivers of their intentions.

Here in Virginia if you signal your intention to change lanes other drivers will do whatever it takes to cut off the space you are trying to use. Worst type A mentality I have seen around the country.

I don’t get that...I’ve been all over South Carolina down thru the years...Isle of Palms, assorted Wild Wing and Maurice’s locations for chow, and I never had a problem with the drivers...

I have seen that same mentality in North Carolina. I am not sure they were NC natives tho.

The most courteous drivers I have seen were in East Texas.

We don’t even make the top 10 but I believe Michigan has the highest insurance rates.

Maybe its due to deer. Only 2 kinds of driver in Michigan, Those who have hit a deer and those who are going to hit a deer.

I’ve hit 3 that did damage including one that totaled the car. 2 more have bounced off a fender without damage.
