The GOP’s 2014 Strategy: Attract Minority Votes, Reinforce Red State Strongholds
The Daily Caller ^ | 13 December 2013 | Katie McHugh

Posted on 12/14/2013 2:06:13 PM PST by zeestephen

The GOP plans to entrench grassroots organizers in Democratic-leaning communities to cultivate support from Blacks and Hispanics. RNC Political Director Chris McNulty touted New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s recent re-election victory as a path forward for other Republicans.

DEMORCRATS don't spend one thin dime trying to attract the votes of NRA members? That's because they're NOT stupid...

Maybe our guys should take a hint... And yeah, many Hispanics are a match - but we're never going to get the black vote. Going after it is a waste of time.

I’m aware they largely vote democrat. I’m just saying many do have basic conservative values: religious faith, traditional family structure (especially Hispanics), not in favor of homosexual relations, etc. Not all, obviously, but a lot. So, to me, it’s a bit strange that they do largely vote democrat. I guess the government handouts and ‘babysitting’ outweigh everything else.

It looks like liberalism isn’t the only mental disease - politicians and architects are high on the list of the insane. Perhaps D.C. was built on an old grave site where earlier peoples buried the criminally insane...

Why not (gasp) get more white voters to switch in the upper midwest? Going after Mexicans in the west and Puerto Ricans in Central Florida is as much a waste of money as trying to get more whites in the northeast to switch.

RE: “Why not (gasp) get more white voters to switch in the upper midwest?”

Exactly correct.

(1) Non-Hispanic whites are the largest voting group in America (about 68% of all eligible voters).

(2) Non-Hispanic white voters almost always have the highest turnout, especially in off year elections.

(3) Since 1980, non-Hispanic whites have consistently voted 55%-60% for Republicans, so there is a small, but natural, majority for Conservatives to work with.

(4) A majority of Blacks have not voted for a Republican presidential candidate in almost 100 years.

(5) A majority of Hispanics have NEVER voted for a Republican presidential candidate.

I completely support Conservative “outreach” to non-white voters.

But pretending that non-white voters are a key part of our election strategy is complete insanity.

It can be both-and, not either-or.

The coming upset of Obamacare could be a huge gift to the more godly politicians, if they will accept it.

Almost any fool will be able to see that Democrats have no more credibility, and the GOP just sat there and did nothing. The Democrats destroyed themselves.

The next battles may not even have Democrats as major players. Now it will be Tea Party vs. GOPe, for lack of better terminology.

I support deporting some of the illegal Irish in Boston. The same rules should apply if they are breaking immigration law and if any of them are involved in illegal activies.

If the first 3 or 4 generations of Irish and Italians were Democrats Id guess at least more time for hispanics to even be half Republican. From 1924 there was immigration restriction to help with Assimilation. So it took until 1968 to get the Italian vote under pretty good circumstances with the riots and war service uniting non Black voters.

Id guess at least half of Western European immigrants would vote Democrat. A conservative in Britain is like Bloomberg.

Bloomberg isn’t even welcome by the mainline GOP but the conservative party of Britain hosts fundraisers with him.

I think GW Bush got 2/3 of the whites to turnout and almost 2/3 of the white vote. In part due to 9/11 and being a wartime president. If Bush was just the guns, taxes and cheap labor president he wouldn’t have got those figures. I think Bush also got 12% of the black vote. If you got a wimpy white Democrat you could get a few more points of the black vote or a lot of blacks will stay home anyway.

Steve King was helping Bush on the Gay Marriage issue in Iowa. Dukakis and Gore won Iowa. He also started an ongoing fued with Karl Rove at the start of 2004 of the divisiveness of amnesty. Bush could have lost if he had a bunch of wimps in Iowa. Grassley’s voting record since then is pretty good for that state. If Hispanics who gave him 39% like him because of his big spending ways that will not woo them. There is no way a GOP president and GOP house will ever get away with that much spending.

In 2008 when he almost won, Mayor Barletta outperformed the national GOP in his district. When they had 2 amnesty supporters running for president.

McNulty went on to work for Speaker John Boehner as the Deputy Executive Director of the Political Office of the Speaker and his liaison to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC).

Well, thank you.

I appreciate the compliment.

I plead guilty to being an old dog who can't stop barking at the immigration issue.

Conservatives stopped the Bush-McCain Amnesty in 2006, but, today, I think the game has probably been lost.

Since the Reagan Amnesty in 1986, 20 million immigrants and their children have become Democrats.

Numbers are everything in a democracy, and Conservatives just don't have the votes to stop the Socialists anymore.

I don’t care who they target as long as they don’t change their platform or deviate from the conservative message...low taxes, spending cuts, more privatization, anti-abortion, anti-same-sex-marriage, anti-terrorism, no on amnesty, etc.

I’d rather win 25% of races on those issues than win 50% of races by adopting Democrat policies. As it is, in modern elections, people don’t usually vote for anything. They always vote against the guy they hate the most. Obama’s last campaign was smoke and mirrors. The GOP just has to get that clever about campaigning, not change their platform.

“...but we’re never going to get the black vote. Going after it is a waste of time.”

I disagree. I think it can and should be done. A monumental task to be sure, but worth it - and not just for political reasons. For humanitarian reasons.

Sure, there are welfare queens and Dads who slap up their b!tches every night, but there are many, many who are trapped in a life they’d do just about anything to get out of. They need a leader - and jessie and al don’t cut it.

Do you think democrats should go after the white married woman vote? Or the NRA vote?

Democrats ARE the party of blacks, lesbians, illegals and corrupt union bosses. Oh, and the white liberal elites who are propped up by those groups... None of them are ever going to vote for conservatives in large enough numbers to bother with.

And that's fine with me. If any member of those groups wants to join with us, they'd be welcomed. But there's no reason beyond foolishness to waste time going after them. They ARE the Democrat party.

If the GOP wants to win elections they should court their base...

I know what you mean... good black people outnumber the bad ones, but dems support the gangbangers, poverty pimps and thugs in black communities. And they do it to maintain power. A productive happy black community would not vote 90% democrat. They know that...

A black Republican would be treated with all the kindness of a snitch.

We don't need to do that to people who will some day in the future join us. Our best bet is to fight the corrupt black power structure... and yeah at times it will appear racist... In the long run it'll save honest hard working people - black and white - from gang bangers and thugs who currently run inner city neighborhoods.
