A sterling example of the maxim, no good deed goes unpunished.
Former President George W. Bush was booed when he appeared on the video monitor at todays memorial for Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg, South Africa, according to the White House pool report, which cited local press outlets.
Meanwhile, when the images President Obama and Michelle popped up, there was a 30-second deafening roar, the pooler wrote.
How sad. Bush has done an far greater amount for South Africa than Obama. But Obama is much better at crafting his public image and saying the right things.
Bush personally saved the lives of millions of South Africans with his Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, ensuring AIDS drugs are available to South Africas impoverished masses.
From a Washington Post piece describing how Bushs achievements were haunting Obamas June trip to South Africa:
In South Africa, the success ( of PEPFAR) was extraordinary. AIDS killed roughly 2.3 million in South Africa once one of the worst-affected countries in the world and orphaned about a million children there, according to the United Nations. Today, rates of infection have fallen to 30 percent, and nearly 2 million people are on antiretroviral drugs.
AIDS advocates on Sunday said that Obama administration budget cuts that have slashed hundreds of millions of dollars from PEPFAR threaten to turn back years of progress . . .

Racists.
Booing at a funeral-—what a class act!
The ghost of Helen Thomas goosed the presstitute pool, no doubt.
Bush did more for Africa than Obama ever did. Which was zip (Obama that is).
Woe to those that call evil good and good evil.
The world has gone totally mad. Just as every cop is a criminal, and all the sinners saints . . .Sympathy For The Devil
Bush is white. They want us dead. Mandela wanted us dead. A person has to be myopic not to see it.
All they know is he’s black. That’s all that matters.
So, there were FReepers at the funeral?
G.W. Bush did not think it worth his time to attend Margaret Thatcher’s funeral but he jumped at the chance to attend the funeral of this Communist/Marxist.

Margaret Thatcher Was Less Worthy of U.S Respect Than Nelson Mandela?
Victor Keith
Four U.S. Presidents, current and former, will attend the funeral of Nelson Mandela. Upon his death, flags were ordered flown at half mast. Nelson Mandela, no matter what one’s opinion of him, was indeed a historical figure who sacrificed much to end a morally evil system of government that denied rights to citizens based upon their race. He was of great service to the transformation of South Africa.
Margaret Thatcher, on the other hand, was not only a historical figure in British history but she was also a tremendous ally of the United States during the Cold War. She stood side by side with the U.S. during a time when it was not domestically popular to do so. Both her economic and foreign polices helped to maintain Great Britain as a serious player in the world affairs.
Upon the death of the Iron Lady, however, this administration did not bother to fly the flags at half mast. Not only did the president not attend her funeral, but no member of his cabinet deemed it worth their while either. To further the insult, no former president considered the death of this woman significant enough to fly to England. All of them, except for the very frail George H.W. Bush, will rush to South Africa for their photo op.
Daily presidential polls were showing new territory for Obama. Then Mandela’s death and a great opportunity to get on the world stage again.
It’s working. His numbers are coming back up.
That’s ok. We’ve been patient here, all of us for 5 years now. IT’s only a matter of time. Eventually, little by little, the layers of deceit, incompetence and naivete when dealing with our enemies will surface.
In South Africa, the success was extraordinary. AIDS killed roughly 2.3 million in South Africa once one of the worst-affected countries in the world and orphaned about a million children there, according to the United Nations. Today, rates of infection have fallen to 30 percent, and nearly 2 million people are on antiretroviral drugs.
But AIDS advocates on Sunday said that Obama administration budget cuts that have slashed hundreds of millions of dollars from PEPFAR threaten to turn back years of progress in the fight against the AIDS epidemic. Last year, the administration unveiled a budget that reduces AIDS funding globally by roughly $214 million, the first time an American president has reduced the U.S. commitment to fighting the epidemic since it broke out in the 1980s during the Reagan administration.
Since 2010, funding for PEPFAR has fallen 12 percent, putting the program at its lowest funding level since 2007, Chris Collins, director of public policy at the Foundation for AIDS Research, wrote in an April editorial on the Huffington Post Web site. The administration has proposed an additional $50 million cut for 2014.
Bush has done a far greater amount for South Africa than Obama.
But Obama is much better at crafting his public image and saying the right things. is black.
Pure racism - straight up.
“But Obama is much better at crafting his public image and saying the right things.”
No, Bush is White, Obama is Black. That’s all that matters to them.
LOL!
Inability to recognize the enemy.
The Bush family’s most serious problem.
