At a news conference Monday, Newtown First Selectman Patricia Llodra had a message for the national and international media looking to cover the one-year anniversary of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School: Stay away.
"Please respect our need to be alone," Llodra said. "To be quiet and to have that personal time to continue on our journey of grief in the way that serves us."
It appears many media outlets are doing just that. Virtually all major U.S. cable and network news organizations which flooded the town of 27,000 in the days and weeks following the tragedy do not plan to have a presence in Newtown on Dec. 14, one year after 20-year-old gunman Adam Lanza went on a rampage at the elementary school, killing 20 children and six adults before turning a gun on himself.

Not a chance
good for them
I have lots of contempt and zero respect for the media. But good on them if they stay away.
This country has freedom of movement in public places, so it’s ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS for them to try to get the news media (or anyone else for that matter) to stay away!
They can be as private as they want inside their own homes and on their property.
Sorry, I can’t be convinced that our government, like Benghazi, is not responsible for this tragedy. Now it dictates what the media can and cannot cover/report and the State Run Media obeys. For how long have we been communist?
How come hordes of media didn’t swarm to Fort Hood after their gun massacre. Let me answer my own question. Because it doesn’t fit their anti-gun narrative.
Yeah, I see the logic. /s
‘”Please respect our need to be alone,” Llodra said.’
Hahahahahahaaaa...
Oh, that’s rich. Calling on media people to be respectful?
Hahahahahahahaaa....
Fat chance.
I guess the town doesn’t want the ghouls hanging around.
Obama turned Newtown and Gabby Giffords shootings into “I love Obama” parties after the shootings. Never before in History has this happened
Or the town doesn’t want more publicity over the infighting over the distribution of the the million$ from public donations. From two of those, a fund set up with the United Way and another from the Newtown-Sandy Hook Community Foundation, they are arguing over $11 million. $7.7 million goes to the families and the remainder goes to community causes. That’s not counting the donations made directly to the families nor the $2.5 million Obama sent to “reimburse” the officers.
Whew ... bet Coyote Blitzer and crew were really p!ssed ... I mean rejecting the presence of the great ones. Somebody is in for a bit of semi-journalistic revenge take down.
I didn’t expect YOU to.
Stay away or we’ll sue... wait, er, we don’t sue anybody here... it is all good!
