Democratic Party has no more centrists
NY Post ^ | 12/08/13 | Michael Goodwin

**SNIP**

Remaining intra-party fights only concern how extreme the shift will be, as new militants push the Dems closer to pure socialism. Conviction politicians like Obama and de Blasio have no real interest in compromise. Look at the battle between Mass. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton.

To most sane people, Clinton no longer qualifies as a centrist. Five years ago, her muscular talk on foreign policy made her allies with Robert Gates and John McCain. But her role as front lady for the Obama appease-niks turned her muscles into fat and her policy into mush.

Yet Clinton is insufficiently committed to the movement, according to the Warren cult. And so true believers are pushing St. Elizabeth, she of the Cherokee cheekbones, to run against St. Hillary for the party mantle in 2016.

Robert P. Casey was a pro-life Democrat governor of Pennsylvania from 1987-1995. The one of the current democrat candidates for governor of Pennsylvania is Allyson Schwartz, who owned an abortion business.

Let us not forget that even Ronaldus Magnus was once a Democrat, until that party left him.

Likewise the great Jesse Helms, a Patriot recognized as such by Ted Cruz, was once a Democrat. He was the direction that party was taking and wisely became a Republican in the 1970s.

Democratic Party has no more centrists

But they think they're the centrists, and Republicans the radicals.

Jill Lepore, a Harvard history professor, in the 12/2/2013 New Yorker ("Measuring the polarization of American politics"), writes

"The Republican Party has moved to the right and, to a much lesser degree, the Democratic Party has moved to the left. ... Ideologically, Democrats have not moved to the left."

Goes to show how completely different they see things.

Not sure it’s worth hating on one or the other anymore. They all get rich in office. They. All pander to special interests. I think it is delusional to think they represent you who voted for them.

As evidenced by the near 100% support of Obamacare.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of that.

Compare to trying to take a realistic objective stab at reality. Presume the founders and framers to be the “centrists”. From there, the Republican party of today is very much to the left of them, while the ‘Rat party is ludicrously extremely to the left of that.

I wouldn’t laugh too hard, we have the same problem.. This raises the simple question, where will the vast middle of the road go? I believe this is where a guy like Christie is positioning himself..

He’s too liberal for my taste, but I can’t say I don’t understand his strategy.. He’s muscular enough for the Right-of-Center, and Fiscal Conservatives, and Socially Liberal enough for the Blue Dog Democrats, the groups that no longer fit into either side of the new POP POLITICS..

I fear we’ll push him into the 3rd party, as it appears he will decimate the GOP, giving the Dems a walk off Home run..

I watched a segment on CSPAN with Joe Scarborough pitching his new book. In his book, Scarborough claims that radicals have taken over the Republican party and the GOP will never be national party if it does not allow more moderate voices to be heard. What planet does this guy live on?

The GOP-E is chock full of such moderates. In the last election, it nominated a moderate. The GOP is essentially a democrat party lite because regardless who wins the election the size of the Federal government continues to grow, the deficit increases, and the country continues leftward drift both economically and socially.

I would say to Scarborough and his ilk, you need to direct your criticisms at the democrat party which has gone from a center left party to a far left organization.

Both parties have gotten far away from individual rights, and more into "democracy," where the vote can trump your rights.

The founders and framers put individual rights first, and they were right.

My congressman, Tim Walz, is a conservative for 2 months every other year. He pulls out his National Guard uniform and pretends to represent his district. Then he goes to Washington and votes like Nancy Pelosi. Ron Kind does the same thing in the neighboring Wisconsin district. They both embody what the Democrat Party has become, a party of liars.

The founders and framers put individual rights first, and they were right.

They did but only after suffering indignities and utter oppressive tyranny-- that's what animated them; and without sufficient (usually negative and overbearing) consequences it's human nature to lean toward passivity, compliance. That is until critical mass is reached/they reached their limits and sooner later we'll find where our line is...none other than Albert Einstein said something to the effect of: "our world is in more danger from those who tolerate or encourage evil than from those who actually commit it."

Muscles? I strongly expect poor Mr. Goodwin had a brain fart and meant to write "cankles"...!

This is a problem. The Democrats have no centrists. They are all leftists. They march in lockstep. Republicans, on the other hand, are divided. It’s why Democrats can win elections in spite of all reason; in spite of the fact that the country remains essentially center/right.

In what fantasy world did anyone ever mistake Hildebeast, Bat-Winged Consort of the Goatfooted One, for a "centrist"?

She and he were SDS before age 20. Another nice way of saying "KGB Active Measures", or "America's Young Pioneers". Traitors.
