An openly gay teacher at a Pennsylvania Catholic school was fired after applying for a same-sex marriage license.
Griffin, an alumnus of the Catholic school, told Philadelphia TV station NBC10 that the school knew he was gay and his partner had attended many school functions. He said he was blindsided by his firing.
The school's headmaster, Fr. James McCloskey, told the station that Griffin violated his contract and the school's policy by obtaining the license.
McCloskey did not return a request for comment from the Daily News. But he did tell the station, "Although, the school welcomes teachers from other denominations and recognizes their rights to religious freedom, as employees of a Catholic institution, all teachers are expected to uphold lifestyles compatible with the moral teaching of the Roman Catholic Church."

Its beaten-down religious trying to prove they are "open-minded." Probably they also could have been afraid of a discrimination suit, and assumed the guy was relatively low-key. Of course, you can never predict behavior on any person or group that think only with their genitals, and the administrators probably never imagined the guy would want "get married."
Shows why that thinking is full of land-mines.
The school should be commended for firing him.
The poofter should work for the public schools. The system will celebrate his perversion. They’ll have him bringing his “husband” to show and tell.
Judging by the posts by former students on the guy’s FB page, the school is churning out plenty of “Catholics” who see the Church’s teaching as “hate,” and the abolition of marriage as “marriage equality.”
It’s clear the school gave the guy all the slack he could have asked for. Once he went public, the school did the right thing.

Case closed. The Supremes (including carpet-muncher Elena Kagan) voted 9-0 a few years ago to uphold the “ministerial exemption” on which these contracts are based. He has NO case whatsoever.
People, you need to give this a minute.
Remember that gays crying discrimination usually can mean that he was caught doing something else, was fired, and has decided to claim that it was because he touches other dude’s junk.
Perhaps because the Church generally doesn’t have faithful and devout members frequenting openly gay establishments.
In my single days, I shared a townhouse with several other guys.
One of them turned out to be gay, something I hadn’t picked up for 6 months. . .
And if you believe in basic morality, you're a hater.
Don’t ask, don’t tell, and don’t flaunt it in our face.
Holy Ghost’s motto is “One Heart and One Mind,” according to the school’s website. That includes “the total educational experience: diversity in thought, openness to new possibilities, impetus for change and service to the poor in the spirit of the Gospel.”
I agree.
And this is news because.....?
Why was he even hired in the first place?
“Gay teacher fired from Catholic school for trying to wed partner”
Good!!
I would say this even if I weren’t a catechumen right now: Dude, you signed the contract, didn’t you?
>> An openly gay teacher
What does a “gay teacher” do that makes him “gay”?
I got question did the contract had morality clause
If he couldn’t see that coming, they should fire him for being an idiot.
My wife & I were on a flight where the male attendant was literally entertaining us with oneliners & ad libs. An elderly lady asked him if he missed his wife while on duty.
He replied, “I’m not married.” She pointed to the gold band on his left hand & he joked, “Oh, that’s my `fag deflector’!”
“Your what!?”
“Ma’am, don’t know if you know this, but there are a lot of fags in the airline industry and since I’m straight I wear this to keep ‘em from hitting on me. My girlfriend doesn’t like it & she wants to know when I’ll wear it for real!”
