I know many on this site will look at this and think it is one more crackpot talking nonsense.. That may not be entirely wrong, but I am not a crackpot, and my attitude is shared by too many intelligent folks that are entirely fed-up with the direction we are going..
Texas is suffering from our own success.. We are attracting the disaffected millions, from failed governments around the country, to our state because of our business friendly atmosphere, low taxation, low costs, great weather, and great opportunities..
All of that would be fine, if the newcomers would leave their failed liberal political views behind, which they obviously won't do.. There may not be much time before we are overrun with morons with enough numbers to risk the future.. Secession may be the only solution, if it is a solution at all..
I seek your comments..
What you’re asking is like asking the question — “Can you give me PROOF of who is going to win the Presidential election?” This is a political question in which how every person votes and then acts - is what counts. There are no facts for that and it changes from day to day. You can do polls and surveys, but the final word always comes on Election Day.
Furthermore, if there was enough political support to begin to act on it - there’s not a very good likelihood of it succeeding because of the forces against doing such a thing. And these would be wide-ranging from all over, in other parts of the country.
SO ... there are no facts which absolutely guarantee how each human being is going to react to this until it comes down to a vote or some requested action on their part.
Part of that is because of the influx of Hurricane Katrina folks that got here and decided to stay.
When it gets right down to it, does it really matter if it’s legal or illegal?
The American Revolution was illegal. It was also necessary at the time.
True. That was then. This is now.
They would be illegal immigrates and we would deport them back to the USA.
Amen! We want a divorce.
Yep. Pretty much. We're no longer a red state/blue state country but rather red rural/blue urban country. Texas is turning purple and then following every other purple state, it's going to turn blue. And when Texas follows Colorado, Virginia, Florida and all the other former "battleground" states to blue, we'll never see Republicans control anything other than the House.
Of course, I should never say "never". Eventually the money is going to run out and the free ride is going to end. What happens after this waits to be seen but it's going to be interesting, that's for sure!
Refer to: Village of Appomattox Court House.
That’s actually a myth. Texas has the right to break up into five states but not secede.
Regardless, it doesn’t matter whether or not we have “the right.” As gunner said, when the time comes, we won’t be asking for permission.
“Yeah, great weather. Cant get to my car, couldnt open it if I could (frozen shut) and couldnt drive on the roads if I could get it started. LOL”
Saw Denton Tx on the news last night here on Long Island. Wondered if youse were still there and how you were doing? Looked very un-Texas like weatherwise.
You are not a crack pot Carlo! We have the same problem here in Florida. These liberals are flocking here for the same reasons. However, they do not associate their liberal politics with the failing economy and disintegrating communities of their home states.
In my humble opinion, states can and should succeed from the Union when the Constitution is being fundamentally violated by:
1. centralization in the Federal government of powers reserved to the states under the Tenth Amendment and/or
2. loss of the God-given individual liberties affirmed in the Bill of Rights.
Both of the circumstances mentioned above exist today; so, I believe fiscally responsible states have a valid case for succession. In fact, I believe states have a duty to stand up for their citizens against the above violations.
The notion that the Federal government has the power to take taxpayer money from one group of people to give to another group of people (or from one state to “bail out” another state) is blatantly unconstitutional according to James Madison.
My wife is very frustrated that she can’t get to her store. At least we have electricity, water and some food.
Every time someone brings up the subject of the Yankee War of Agression. Instead of piling on, please consider the following: a) there is NO slavery anymore; b) the South is the new manufacturing center of the country; c) the South is more heavily armed than the Yankee north and d) Acirema is too damn big and divided to be governed efficiently.
I’m ready.
The economy of Texas was different then. Now, they have lots of natural resources and a diverse economy. It makes more sense now.
President Lincoln had a military, population and economic advantage over the Confederacy. Mr. Obama has no such advantage over the “flyover states” that I can see.
Not sure if Texas can secede. More likely Texas can get kicked out. Meaning the US government can make the call to carve Texas out as its own country.
Maybe Texas should bribe all the snot nose panty wastes in Washington to vote to exclude Texas from the America.
Texas could probably agree to pay 10 years of federal taxes at the current level and of course the cash it takes to bribe the corrupt in Washington, and make the dream come true.
In my opinion, Texas would be getting off cheap if they could pull a deal like that off.
The border could then be sealed, in all directions, and us Texans could live a life of prosperity that we should be living.
Texas out, Puerto Rico in! If they need to keep it at 50 states.
Texas did not join the Union by treaty. We were annexed by a joint resolution of Congress.
Thank you. The issue is what happens when the Federal government is not acting within the limits of the law. The American Revolution was fought by men and women that understood that England was not acting lawfully.
