That’s been one of the big stories around here. Hard to fathom what that explosion must have been like.
A big one? :)
I remember a propane explosion years ago in Buffalo. A tank had leaked at a commercial business and filled up they figure the bottom 10” of this warehouse over the weekend. It leveled several city blocks when it went off. It also moved a fire truck about 150’ and killed so of the firemen that had just showed up.
As we know propane is heavier than the air around it. So it will sink to the floor/basement of the structure it is leaking into.
Some propane filling the space. that is impressive.
Anyone see the Mythbusters segment where they were able to do a catastrophic failure of a hot water heater? One of the coolest things I have ever seen on TV.
Heavier than air vapors are the reason there are one or two steps down into one’s garage.
I remember a whole town in mexico going up. It seems that gasoline got into the sewage system. When it blows up it takes the path of least resistance.
Not sure why the writer thinks it’s important to the story to note that she was a mother.
About 30 years ago, an untethered water heater took off like a rocket through the roof of a condo, across the street and came down through the roof of a casita (unoccupied at the time) at the La Quinta Resort Hotel.
Not every woman can be a dietitian like Michelle.
And why larger covered deck watercraft have bilge blowers.
Oh yeah! Always start that bilge blower in advance!
10 to 12 miles away it knocked pictures off my wall in my shop and shook the walls of my mobile home so much my son saw them move.
Here’s one I remember from 2008 in Phx. It blew 135 yards.
Yikes. RIP.
