A spokesman for the liberal organization Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good (CACG) has posted on the groups website a denunciation of what he states were incendiary remarks about Pope Francis by conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday.
Limbaugh said that Pope Francis was wrong in his apostolic exhortation released this week in which he appears to blame capitalism for the reason why people are poor in the world.
CACGs Christopher Jolly Hale wrote on Wednesday:
Catholics of all political stripes are disturbed by Rush Limbaugh's incendiary comments this afternoon about Pope Francis. To call the Holy Father a proponent of "pure marxism" is both mean spirited and naive. Francis's critique of unrestrained capitalism is in line with the Church's social teaching. His particular criticism of "trickle down economics" strengthens what Church authorities have said for decades: any economic system which deprives the poor of their dignity has no place within a just society.
Contrary to what Mr. Limbaugh suggests, the Catholic Church isn't built on money, but on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ.
We call on Mr. Limbaugh to apologize and retract his remarks. We urge other Church organizations and leaders--both ordained and lay--to also condemn Mr. Limbaugh's comments.
We proudly stand with Pope Francis as he provides prophetic leadership for the Catholic Church and the entire world.
Following the release of the popes exhortation, entitled Evangelii Gaudium, Hale wrote:
Pope Francis's words have given new vigor to what the Church has been saying for decades: 'trickle down economics' and other economic agendas which work against the poor and promote inequality have no place in a just society. Pope Francis's words should have particular resonance here in the United States as we enter into next month's budget negotiations. of society... and the lives of the poor!"

Back when he was having the trouble hearing — he was getting pain meds from different doctors and denying that he was doing that. There are FR threads on it. He finally admitted that he was doing wrong.
I’ll go with a radio loudmouth be he a Rushie Limbo, or Harold Camping, who’ll be remembered forever, like the Beatles and Chubby Checker, over some soon to be forgotten pope and church in Pure Marxist Euroland!
Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than any other economic system.
Was this one of this infallible pope decrees? I understand some dictates are declared infallible and some are not.
Discussions of economic policy or political philosophy would not.
Obama won the Catholic vote both times, so you can quit pretending on that, the Catholic denomination is a very dependable church denomination for democrats.
The Catholic vote has only gone for the republican presidential candidate about five times in history, and only once was it not for the incumbent they had voted against the first time, or in one case, his veep.
And the "only five times in history" argument doesn't hold much water, since the democrat party wasn't always the enemy of freedom and basic morality.
That scripture doesn’t say a wealthy person can not enter heaven.
God condemns loving money he does not condemn having money.
From a massive majority for Obama in 2008, to a mere majority in 2012, the denomination is a dependable vote for the democrats, Soros knows what he is doing.
Jesus answered, If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.
Sure he didn’t condemn the wealthy, put its how that wealth is used not for self enrichment but for others. This is the crux of what Francis is saying. This is what we saw with Lehman Bros; Enron; and currency manipulators like Soros.

Jesus was speaking to the young ruler not to everyone.
I’m not sure what the Pope is saying as I’m being told his message on economics is being wrongly translated.
I do know Exodus 20:17 says, “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.”
I’m not concerned what the wealthy do with their money. Im concerned about the state of their souls.
Been away awhile.
As you suspect, I am no great fan of any Pope...Christ is the Head of the Church; there is no longer a need for a High Priest or any other intermediary. The Veil of the Temple was rent, once and for all.
Proof and source? I cannot prove to you that God exists... let alone satiate your desire for counter-argument.
My opinion, which is what I assume we all post here at FR, is that the current Pope is no more in tune with God than you or I and in his humble-act foundering only confuses...

The group calling itself Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good involved in new controversy
The Chairman of "Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good" used the "Huffington Post" to foment dissent. His organization confuses the true teaching of Catholic Social Doctrine. "Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good" is neither authentically Catholic nor concerned about the true Common Good.
Faithful Catholic theologian Dr. Janet Smith and the Chairman of "Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good", Fred Rotondaro.
WASHINGTON, DC (Catholic Online) - In a May 25, 2010 article in the "Huffington Post" entitled "The World Needs a New Vatican Council" Fred Rotondaro, identified as a "Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress in Washington, DC." wrote what might have been considered a "silly" article, if it were not so serious. He apparently does not understand the teaching of the last great Council of the Church, Vatican II. And, to make this even more tragic, this man is the Chairman of the Board of the group that calls itself "Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good."
