JON SCOTT: You were at the White House. You want to tell us about that?
JUAN WILLIAMS: What happened was the White House invited a small group of journalists over to talk with the president. I can't tell you what the president said, that is off the record. But I met with other senior officials at the White House and I can tell you they are in full fight mode over the Affordable Care Act right now. What you hear from these senior officials is, you know, they're concerned about what happened with insurance companies.
They wish the insurance companies hadn't sent out the cancellation notices and if they had, that they simply call them renewals. And, they feel right now, as if, you know, they had a major systems failure, major management failure and they're trying to get back on track. Their big concern right now is with people who had those cancellation notices and making sure those people feel they have been taken care of. They feel they have to turn that around, as the first step in trying to repair the damage that's been done to this president.
SCOTT: Is it fair to say they're also trying to change the messaging here.
WILLIAMS: Absolutely. I mean, you know there is frustration. I think that's clear from everybody who I was talking to this morning at the White House, is frustration.
<snip>
. They're frustrated with the way that this has been portrayed in the media because they say it has done some good. Bill Clinton couldn't even get a vote on proposed health care reform. 100 years people have been trying. This is hard work as one of them said.

In other words, they told the media to help them, which the media is all to willing to do.
“They wish the insurance companies hadn’t sent out the cancellation notices and if they had, that they simply call them renewals.’
In other words, they wish the insurance companies hadn’t followed the law and their legal obligations to call a cancellation a cancellation, but to sugar coat with a propagandized message in spite of insurance regulations.
These folks in the WH simply don’t believe that a law is a law.
“They wish the insurance companies hadn’t sent out the cancellation notices and if they had, that they simply call them renewals.”
The effect would be identical, only with a slight delay. I don’t know how an honest person could tell someone their policy will be terminated because it is up for renewal, but a good wordsmith could probably figure it out.
But this would still lead to those same folks trying to get on Healthcare.gov and discovering the same nightmare and then realizing their policy is cancelled. Then those calling it a “renewal” would be called out as liars.
Who do they expect to buy this crap?
Obamacare will survive through sheer brute government force and endless monopoly money, if nothing else.
Depending what your definition of the word “true” is.
I have little use for Juan Williams who is a narrow minded bigot, but he has indicated the white hut is in full damage control mode. This can be extrapolated to mean very dangerous. Cornered rats and all that.
Then what was the point and purpose of the meeting? And why does the website say "access forbidden"?
Why is what journalists were told in a meeting off the record? We’re way past anything reasonable or responsible going on.
But don’t they say that about everything that goes wrong for them? They never consider it might be substance, it’s always that we the people just don’t get it.
-——They think the problem is the messaging.-——
I don’t think so. They know the scope of the problem....disaster.
They think they can finesse the problem with the use of words. They fineness every problems with lies and double speak.
Their real problem is that the fineness is not succeeding this go round. Worse, the other fineness is wearing thin as realization dawns
Collaborationist masquerading as a journalist.
You bet, that’s been their pattern. But there’s a great chance that this time they won’t get away with it.
Wow! I believe this is the most daft statement I have ever seen on this site.
“Their big concern right now is with people who had those cancellation notices and making sure those people feel they have been taken care of.”
Juan has spilled the beans. The WH’s concern is not with actually correcting problems, but with adjusting how someone “feels”. These goofs are so imprisoned by their post-modernist world view that they cannot address reality — just messaging. This is why they are incapable of accomplishing much of anything.
Evidence for what you say was at the recent press conference, where Obama seemed shaken (unlike his usual condescending self), which indicates he knows he’s in deep doo-doo that he can’t talk his way out of, or get rescued by someone.
Easy solution: Don’t spend 3 years lying to 300 million Americans on TV.
Zero will NEVER give up on this. We have to make him give up.
