Israel is working on coordinating plans for a possible military strike with Saudi Arabia, with Riyadh prepared to provide tactical support to Jerusalem, a British newspaper reported early Sunday.
The two countries have both united in worry that the West may come to terms with Iran ...

They want the sanctions to stay in place to keep the Iranian oil off the world market.
I not so sure it’s a bluff. Saudi Arabia and Iran hate each other. It’s a tribal thing, and has existed for centuries. Saudi Arabia is Arab and Sunni; Iran is Persian and Shiite. They despise each other.
The BBC reported a week or so ago that Saudi Arabia bought a nuke or two from Pakistan.
“What the Israelis really need is forward basing,”
Maybe not. Overflight permission and in air refueling could be enough. Do the Saudis have KC130 air tankers?
With some good luck, they are letting it out and hoping it is seen as a potential influence, and then it will really happen.
If I remember correctly, there was an article saying how Azerbaijan allowed Israeli planes into its airspace.
Hollande and Netanyahu to consider forming a joint French-Israeli-Arab front against Iran
Excerpt from my link above:
“
French President Francois Hollande’s first visit to Israel.
French President Francois Holland and Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius arrive in Jerusalem Sunday, Nov. 17. Their talks with Israels leaders are likely to determine how France, Israel and Saudi Arabia respond to the Obama administrations current Middle East moves, with critical effect on the next round of nuclear talks taking place in Geneva Wednesday, Nov. 20 between six world powers and Iran.
France will be given the option of aligning with the Middle East powers - Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt - which challenge President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerrys race for détente with Tehran.”
Netanyahu aides deny report Obama refused to take premier’s phone calls
EXCERPT: “Aides to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu are denying a report in a Kuwaiti newspaper which claims that President Barack Obama refused to accept the Israeli premier’s telephone calls over the weekend, Israel Radio reported on Sunday.”
Hollande in Israel: France won’t yield in opposing Iran nuclear weapons
I don’t believe the Saudis have a toenail in common with Israel. If they are singing Kumbaya w/Israel, it is only to ally with them to learn more about their capabilities before they and Obama decide it’s go-time on Israel. The Saudis are who funded and positioned Obama to be where he is today. I believe their common hatred for Israel & their desire to blow them off the map is where the world needs to focus and forever monitor.
That could be. Things are getting rather dicey for the folks in that region with regard to oil revenues.
Yes, exactly right. That’s the “politics” I had in mind.
Overflight and refueling without basing is better than nothing, but it would increase turnaround time for the planes involved and possibly require lighter weapons loads for said planes, thereby increasing risk. IMO, this may be more than a quick in-and-out.
I remember that one too. The Azeris vehemently denied it, not that that means anything.
Step 2.-—done. The Soddies built Prince Sultan air base for us (US) to defend Koowait with. Near there is also the base they built to keep a strategic stash of our armored vehicles-—which they later asked us to move.
Step 2A might be rolling in a jet fuel supply to Prince Sultan. It’s the support stuff that’s always the dead giveaway. The one thing you can bet on is the status quo ain’t gonna last long.
Don’t forget Olmert was Israel’s hairless Kenyan-—he left Israel in tougher shape because he didn’t finish anything.
We can pretty much set our watches by the reappearance of this story in “British” “news” sources.

They were...Three Chemical Parcel Tankers left Iraq (hull down, loaded) in December of 2002...Just before we jumped off on Iraq...
There departure was noted in the international press, but the destination was never investigated only a general direction was noted as they left the Persian Gulf...
I believe there were some discussions about those ships on FR over the years since then...
Draw your conclusions...I am sure the intelligence services in several countries had better information on this than we ever saw...
