I was 10 years old and in the 5th grade in 1969 in Southern Calif. Our elementary school held a carnival/bake sale/talent contest and my teacher asked me to MC the talent contest (I was quite the cut-up back then).
We had about 2 dozen acts with mostly singers. A couple of kids got up and did “500 Miles Away From Home”. Well received since it was a popular song at the time.
Well, about three acts later we got another samll group doing the same song. Then a third and finally a fourth.
By the fourth I took to the microphone and said, “Well, I hope that’s the last 500 miles because we’re at 2,000 and will be headed into the Atlantic if we continue”. Got a stading ovation of laughter.
Never forgot that song to this day.

Happy weekend, beachy...((HUGS))...hope you “pass” your sleep test. Have a terrific weekend.
Good afternoon, Mac...*HUGS*...assuming your morning commute was really nice. How was your Friday commute home?
I had a great rest...didn’t have to get up. LOL! Took the day off for an appointment. Now I’m trying to get other stuff done that has been neglected.
Happy Friday, Pro...((HUGS))...enjoy your time with your high school buddy.
It’s 27 here and headed for single digit nights.
Good afternoon, Arrowhead...((HUGS))
We got above freezing yesterday, but now are headed to single digit nights and the teens in the days by early next week. Hoping for more snow for ground cover.
We may hit the upper 80s tomorrow. I saw 84 on my truck overhead today.
