WASHINGTON - President Obama will allow insurance companies to continue offering individual health plans that do not meet the standards of the Affordable Care Act through next year, according to a Democratic source on Capitol Hill familiar with the plans.
The plan, which the president will announce Thursday morning, is intended to placate millions of consumers who have received cancellation notices from insurers in recent weeks. Obama had repeatedly promised that consumers would be able to keep plans that they liked.
The president was under intense pressure from Democrats on Capitol Hill to find a fix. House Democrats have increasingly threatened to support a Republican proposal due for a vote Friday. And Democratic senators have offered their own legislative fixes.

Is anyone SCREAMING at the TV like me? What audacity this man has. I would like to try and take apart all of what he is saying...but it is so full of half-truths, outright lies, fake humility, fluff and stuff...that it is hard to tear it down. It is exasperating, infuriating and frustrating. The man is a master at double talk.
Thats all we can do is scream. The bastard has won again.
Exactly. “Obama will allow...?”
Doesn’t anybody else think this is a blood -curdling statement?
“And who is going to compensate the companies for all of the time and paper involved in this fiasco?”
For some thoughts on that, just look in the mirror. Ultimately we bear the cost.
Whenever the emperor decided it was empowered to do so.
So I worked and I bought something off the Free Market with my own money and The Blessed One All Mighty Obama has proclaimed that I can keep it!
Oh thank you blessed one, thank you, thank you.
Was that a Freudian slip? The “Lie” (as opposed to LIVE) thread? LOL
How in the hell, people, tell me. How in the hell can a president CHANGE a law without congress? Please tell what the frig is going on in this country? Is this guy a KING? Is this like a royal edict?
Where have you been? He is The One! He don’t need no steenkin congress.
The democrats and the PACS would have already filed suit and shopped for a judge and an appellate judge.
IMHO, unless Congress acts quickly to rewrite the act that they passed, this is an impeachable action.
A POTUS can't pick and choose what laws he will enforce. He is bound by his oath to enforce them all.
Yes, I know I am being very naive in expecting that pack of pirates and parasites in Washington to actually respect the Constitution.
they won’t do didley because it will be construed that they’re against the middle class, the guy getting burned.
This is the Democrat’s bill. They sink with it.
Also, how in the hell can the insurance companies just extend the insurance....when they have to cover the ACA? Tell me?
And, now is the time to chorus: “This is what Hillary wanted in 1993.”

It’s a brilliant move by obbbama, whether we want to admit it or not. He’s thrown the entire fiasco right back into the insurance companies laps. If the companies don’t reinstate the policies, he can point his finger at them and say,,,”see what meanies they are!!!” And if the GOP criticizes what he is now doing, he can say,,,”see? they didn’t really care that you lost your policies!” Been doing some quick surfing, and libs are absolutely ecstatic about his speech, saying that he has pulled victory from the jaws of defeat.
He has just rewritten The Law of The Land by executive fiat.
He tried, but not even Democrats are going to let him get away with that. He will be forced to sign legislation. This is going to get really interesting.
Agreed. As with Syria, this is all about desperately trying to avoid a humiliating vote that will trash his legacy.
