I frequent ABS/CBN (Philippines) frequently and there appears to be no further information since yesterday

I’m in Batangas City (2 hours south of Manila) and power is out at our home, but my USB Wimax connection still has 1 bar and I have about 50% battery left on my laptop. Better shut down for a while and preserve battery.
On the good side — storm doesn’t seem too bad at the moment. LOTS of rain and heavy winds, but I’ve seen no major flooding and everyone seems to be okay in our area.

Yes, we all know what the media can do. They have to make everything look as bad as they can.
By the way, I live on a “fishing” beach. Ten or so boats are at my beach. None of them had damage, but they had been pulled up to the road above the beach, yesterday.
You folks are incredible.
Prayers for your safety.
I read somewhere a lady was hit on the head by a coconut tree, but that she was in the hospital and there was no news about her condition.
I've seen no death or injury reports ... yet.
I’m not there yet, I’m in SW Pa ... but my plan is within a year, I’ll be in the province.
This storm was the lead story on “ABC World News Tonight” on Thursday evening across America.
They said it was going to be the strongest storm to ever hit a land mass anywhere in the world in history, worse than a category 5 hurricane with winds of 220 MPH.
They even had ominous music playing in the background.
Glad to hear that you weathered the storm, Alex.
Any word from Mark17? - He is also an Expat living in the Phils.
Please keep us informed at to how you are doing.
Mark is in California right now. Check his posts.
Thanks.
What I heard is, that the saving grace was that the storm moved through quickly.
I am now in Davao City, but my friends in Ormoc City, Leyte stopped sending me info around 9am yesterday (It's already Saturday morning here!). They were telling me of extreme winds and hard rain. I hope to hear from them soon.
Here in Davao, we had sunshine most of the day, with intermittent clouds and no rain nor winds. My GF's mom is going to Kapalong today to check there (mountainous area north of Davao) because their home there is along a river that frequently floods.SkyNews video
Rod, thanks for your concern. I will be in Davao City on Nov 29th.
My friend’s daughter is a reporter for ABS-CBN. She flew to Leyte today. She said that more than 100 bodies were found scattered on the streets of Tacloban this morning (Manila time).
God spared me when He sent me here for a new life in Davao! I planned on waiting a while, but decided the to make the move earlier!

We need a Philippine ping list, but I do not know how to establish one.
Anyway, today on Cebu was lovely, at least in my town.
My Cape Cod friend was down for our normal 4 PM beer drinking in our little beer garden that sits six feet above the beach.
We were all spared any noticeable damage, but as we look over at Bohol we can see two beige points carved out of sloping landscape where there were obviously landslides. What was once green looking is now beige color. My view was maybe 60 km away. I did see on the news that Bohol did suffer some landslides.
Open a text file and start compiling names, remembering to put a semi-colon between them. For anyone wanting to be on this list, send Feepmail to alexw or wvkayaker to be added or deleted.
On my Mac, I started one today using "Stickies". Just copy and paste when posting on pertinent threads.
The list I have may be wrong, but came from posters on these threads.
