Bobby Jindal and his political team totally blew it, harrumphed one advisor for Ken Cuccinelli the morning after a closer-than-expected loss.
Cuccinelli, who narrowly lost last nights gubernatorial election to Terry McAuliffe, was badly outspent in the days and weeks leading up to the election. The New York Times Jonathan Martin described Cuccinellis plight as having been close to abandoned at the end. He was. As Politicos James Hohmann reported, The Republican National Committee spent about $3 million on Virginia this year, compared to $9 million in the 2009. And as the Roanoke Times noted, in 2009, the Chamber of Commerce spent $973,000 on Bob McDonnell, but [t]his year, the chamber gave Cuccinelli nothing.
But it was the Republican Governors Association (RGA) and chairman Bobby Jindal who drew the most ire from a Cuccinelli advisor I spoke to on Wednesday morning this, despite the fact that the RGA spent millions on the race.
Bobby Jindals presidential campaign is over, said the Cuccinelli advisor. He screwed this up so bad. And I dont know why. The campaign knew it was moving numbers over ObamaCare. And the RGA was not very far from that information, they could have obtained it themselves, the advisor continued. They should have given the money to the campaign to spend as opposed to running these stupid China ads. They just blew it.

IT'S BUSH'S FAULT.
You can not expect republican governors to support a conservative nowdays, can you. So why bother supporting the republicans who hate conservatives. Let them make friends with the democrats. Maybe the chubby man of NJ is their man next election, and he will probable lose too. It is what it is, and it is very bad indeed.
[Im done with the GOP.]
Cant see the difference between them and the damned demonrats anymore anyway.
[Are you burning a bridge by calling out those who would backstab you again when the time was right?
Tea Party Conservatives cannot depend on the Republican Party. Period.]
True indeed. And the GOP hates conservatives now more than ever. Let the GOP kiss demonrat butt.
[Just because someone shares our views doesn’t mean he has political talent or charisma.]
And we all know that you need talent and charisma to be a DC politician nowdays. God forbid that someone who is actually competent and honest should be elected in the GOP , the rinos would be humiliated and ashamed.
Look how much the GOP was outspent this year by the Dems, and also how much less they invested in the race itself versus the last cycle.
Blaming the libertarians is a little naive and disingenuous, IMHO. Blame the GOP. They hung "Tea Partier" Cuccinelli out to dry when spending the additional ad money could have made a huge difference.
The GOP should never be significantly outspent by the opposition for a gubernatorial race that happens in a competitive state such as Virginia.
[Like it or not, we need the votes of moderates and independents to win state-wide elections in Virginia and other swing states.]
Jimeny. We need to go along to get along, right? No wonder there is a civil war in the worthless GOP. Why don’t they just rename themselves “democrat light “. It better suits them. They are losers to the end and will continue to destroy themselves and the nation in their quest to win elections they will lose. Loser lose and the GOP are losers indeed. They worked hard to be losers and they deserve it.
I’m trying really hard to think of a Republican who’s lost statewide in VA and then made a comeback. Coming up blank. Anyone else able to think of any successful VA GOP comeback story?
IMO, Bolling takes a greater share of responsibility for the loss than Jindal. What a small, petty, jealous man Bolling turned out to be.
Anonymous source and total BS. The fake libertarian Sarvis tipped another narrow election into the lap of the unfit for office Demwit. And that’s the only reason he was on the ballot in the first place.
I understand that Jindal is also undermining the candidacy of U.S. Representative Dr. Bill Cassidy in indirect support for Mary Landrieu.
Many pastors may have stopped pro-life rhetoric for fear their female congregants are procuring abortions as they speak. Or maybe the pastors have just lost faith in pro-life matters themselves.
A. Linwood Holton, a Nixon Republican turned Obama Democrat lost in 1965 and won in 1969.
Honestly, man, blaming Bobby Jindal for this seems like extremely poor taste. He has been one of the Republicans’ netter leaders for years now in standing up to federal strongarming.
Thank you for your response.Of which were two. One I have no idea what one was talking about and yours. One group of Chrisitans being particularly affected have been the catholics and looking at that reported 30% which supported pro life and voted for any democrat wondered why that was so high.
When involved with the Reagan push in Illinois we leafletted church parking lots while services were going on. While pastors complained about litter. The result was history. But that was when people went to church.
It’s appears that that method wasn’t used here.
I love it when people babble on with talking points they've picked up somewhere that have no connection with reality. Cuccinelli WON the independents by 7+ points. Perhaps I need to say it again louder? CUCCINELLI WON THE INDEPENDENTS BY ALMOST DOUBLE-DIGITS !!!!!
So your "we need the moderates" crap is just that. We won married women but lost single women (just like every election), and lost because of low base turnout (due to low resources and political missteps by the Cuccinelli campaign early on) and a 3rd-party spoiler funded by Democrats. Actually look at the numbers before you speak, please...
It amazes me, but does not surprise me, that the MSM completely ignores that little tidbit in its reporting of the VA election.
The election was no mandate for the dems, as the exit polling showing the majority oppose obamneycare indicates.
Bush was a nice guy, but he was out of his league. He got his dad's looks, but his mother's (lack of) brains. Reagan came into office along with 192 Republican congressmen and when he left, there were 175, a drop of 17 seats. In 1978, before Reagan was elected, there were 158 GOP congressmen in office, so you could say that Reagan's coattails amounted to 34 seats.
Bush came into office along with 221 GOP congressmen and when he left, there were 178, a drop of 43 seats. In 1998, before Bush was elected, there were 223 GOP congressmen in office, so Bush actually had coattails amounting to -2 seats. Bottom line is that Bush did nothing for the GOP in coming to office and trashed it on the way out.
Bush was an irresponsible moron who raised welfare state spending via Medicare Part D, No Child Left Behind and the stupid homeownership program that resulted in the mortgage crisis of 2008. And the funny thing is that liberals hate this guy every bit as much as they hated Nixon, another big-spending Republican. And the sad thing is, the alternative to him in the GOP was McCain. Running for office is such a difficult, specialized and thankless endeavor that no competent businessman wants to try and the one who did was a dilettante prone to saying politically-disastrous things for no good reason. Romney said very little, but the few things that he said sank his candidacy. Brilliant guy, but a tone-deaf political moron.
thanks... so 45 years. Of course, those years included the transformation of the “Solid South.”
Holton has been such a disgraceful disappointment. Isn’t Tim Kaine his son in law?
The tea party was persona-non-grata at the convention in 2012 other than a few head pats and useless platitudes. The Party boys were quite busy changing the rules to ensure the tea party never see the light of day in the Republican party.
News flash, the tea party is your base Republicans and you keep using and abusing them and now that they dare call you on it your first response go for the tried and true promise to do better and be more considerate of conservatives,(where have we heard that before), when those lies are called on this time around that conciliatory repose by the Republican party turns to anger and rage.
The Republican-E and Party boys have no principles that they are not willing to sell out for a win, because the conservative base is not as corrupt and duplicitous as they are and will not take the 30 pieces of silver it further infuriates the GOPe and the Party pukes.
Try and win without the conservatives Republicans. You got a preview in 2012 when part of your base sat that one out because of yet another moderate, independent loving piece of stand for nothing milquetoast. Cram Krispey Kreme down the parties throat in 16 and you will be lucky to pull 10 states into the red column.
Romney won the moderates by huge margins how did that work out for us? And since when did independents become a different voting block than moderates??? Sounds suspiciously like another reason for the GOPe liberals to equivocate and sell out even further for votes.
All I am hearing from you is become liberal lite like the democrats and will win. If I want to vote liberal I will vote for the real thing, not the cheap a$$ version the Republican party keeps trotting out screaming: me too, me too, but just a few dollars cheaper!!!
