Camp Zama commander relieved of duty

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — The Army has relieved the commander of its largest base in Japan after an investigation into alleged misconduct, according to a U.S. Army Japan press statement sent late Friday.

The investigation had been ongoing since June 7, when Col. Eric Tilley was suspended from his job as commander of U.S. Army Garrison Japan.

Maj. Gen. James C. Boozer, Sr., commander of U.S. Army Japan and I Corps (Forward), officially relieved Tilley on Friday for “lack of confidence” based on the results of the inquiry, according to the press statement.

The statement provided no other details. Reached via email, U.S. Army Japan spokesman Maj. Kevin Toner said, "…it would be inappropriate to make public the allegations because the investigation did not lead to findings of criminal misconduct."

The Tilley inquiry was not related to Boozer’s predecessor, Maj. Gen. Michael T. Harrison, Toner said. Harrison was also suspended in June while officials looked into whether he may have failed to report or properly investigate a sexual assault claim.

Toner would not address rumors that other officials have been relieved of their duties from Camp Zama as a result of alleged misconduct, nor did he elaborate on what had happened to Tilley’s civilian deputy, Jeffrey Wertz, who was temporarily detailed to other duties in June during a misconduct investigation.

Col. Joy Curriera has been appointed to the position of garrison commander at Zama.

Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated Col. Joy Curriera's title as being U.S. Army Japan Commander.

By tomorrow, we will have ordered some "food insurance"!

I've been buying locally as much as possible and paying cash each time.

Best not to use a traceable means of payment for intelligence-flagged items. The NSA didn't build that huge data recording center to give us more freedom.

Woodland pattern BDUs have been obsolete since 2005.

That’s the ACU in the photo, designed for wearing under body armor. You can be super lean & fit & still look like you’re overweight & wearing rumpled pajamas, in the ACU.

The PT uniform of shorts & T-shirt gives a better idea of individual fitness & body mass.

hell, even a blind man can see a pattern here...

When one of the senses are compromised, very often the other senses will have notably heightened acuity.

I have little doubt this blind gentleman you speak of can taste the ball gag in his mouth better, can hear the Sturmtruppen marching from miles away, is overwhelmed by the stench of feces and decay in this nation, and can feel every splinter of the wooden spindle being shoved up his ass much, much better than everyone else.

I don’t know anybody involved, but Stars and Stripes (Yokota) covered the story of the pervious 2 star getting pulled there over the summer. The allegations involved protecting another officer (don’t think isn’t was the CO). Now the new 2 star yanks the base CO. When something like this hits a base and a 2 star gets yanked, the damage usually doesn’t stop there.

No way man--it's another Obama purge victim! Can't you see that?

(Things are getting kinda weird around here at FR...)

Lots of out of shape ones in the PT uniforms. The ones in shape are running and the chunkies are always walking.

And you know this how????

I think it is weird how no one is accountable for their actions anymore. If a high-ranking officer does something wrong, there is a brigade of people defending him and blaming it all on Obama. There is no personal accountability, it’s always someone else’s fault.

Maybe the reasons were made up, or maybe they are real, but how about we reserve judgment until we get more than a paragraph of information?

There are some freeze dried items I like, just because I don't have to address food preservation issues when I am in the field. Not to mention the fact that they keep if you don't use (open) them. With the shelf life, a little adds up over time, and won't look like a TEOTWAWKI storehouse to some snoop.

Most flag tripping comes from stepping outside established parameters. Establish ordering histories, bank transaction patterns, etc. you can live with, and leave a little extra around the edges.

Then nothing will be out of the ordinary.
