Per Betsy McCaughey, Obamacare vastly shifts resources from Medicare to Medicaid. She is not shocked about how many are signing up for medicaid because that is what they want. Single payer. Hospitals will get bonus points for how little they treat seniors.

Medicare is/was personal asset choice. Medicaid is a bastardized government takeover of personal choice and wealth. I will despise any and all politicians who want me and my wife on Medicaid. I remember the ‘old’ days when company health plans served the working people very adequately. Then unions and government got together to kill the geese that laid the eggs.

Basically I see this making the red states redder and the blue states bluer. Those states that don't have basically opted out of their own exchanges don't have to expand medicaid and don't offer the subsidies. Those who are inclined to take a free ride on things might well be inclined to head from red states to blue. Those who want lower state taxes and such would look towards the red states. Could make for an interesting demographic shift.

Of course!! Why it is so “successful” in Kentucky and why Kentucky has a governor promoting how “successful” Kentucky is in having more of its population on Medicaid than any other state!! Whoo hoooo!

it is also to make insurers and providers tow the line and not make so much. I still am very surprised Darrell ISsa’s bill is getting no press. it is a great idea to use the federal employees plan as a basis for providing insurance to all Americans. I can imagine how it could be tweaked to make it possible to cover Medicare people and maybe even Medicaid. if we did that, then maybe we could downsize CMS and get out of the healthcare administration business.

From memory.....

ObamaCare makes everyone at the poverty income level eligible for Medicaid.

In the past, for most states, Medicaid was available only for children, pregnant women, and people on SSI.

I'm not sure “forced” is the right word here.

Medicaid is free, and includes dental care.

Most really poor people are thrilled to get on it.

In fact, I suspect most low information voters thought that ObamaCare was going to be free.

When low income people discover they will have to PAY a monthly premium, plus PAY their deductible (up to $6,250), they are NOT going to do that!
