President Obama in his weekly address Saturday said he was proud to be a salesman for Obamacare despite criticism over the glitch-filled rollout of the laws insurance exchanges.
Some people have poked fun at me this week for sounding like an insurance salesman. And thats okay, said Obama. Id still be out there championing this law even if the website were perfect.
Obamas comments came after another week of withering criticism over the administrations rollout of a new website designed to enroll consumers in the health care laws public insurance exchanges.
Obama said at an event Monday that he is frustrated with the website and vowed it would be fixed, but also defended the health care law as a good deal for the public.
Opponents of the health care law criticized Obama, saying he was forced to resell the public on supporting his signature legislative achievement.
Obama on Saturday said he welcomed the role as salesman-in-chief and touted the laws benefits.
Ill never stop fighting to help more hardworking Americans know the economic security of health care, he said.
The president also mocked Republicans criticisms of the website and concern for consumers, saying they had spent the last few years so obsessed with denying those same people access to health insurance.
Obama again argued, as he has all week, that the health care law is more than just a website.
We did not fight so hard for this reform for so many years just to build a website. We did it to free millions of American families from the awful fear that one illness or injury to yourself or your child might cost you everything youd worked so hard to build, he said.
We have already delivered on part of that promise, and we will not rest until the work is done, Obama added.
Former Director of the Office of Management and Budget Jeffrey Zients, who has been tapped to repair Healthcare.gov, said Friday that the issues would be resolved and the website functioning smoothly before December.
Republicans have seized on the glitch-filled rollout of the website and say it highlights the unworkability of Obamas health care law.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is slated to testify before Congress next week.
In the GOP weekly address, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, R-Mich., vowed to investigate the botched rollout and press for a delay of the laws individual mandate.
Despite hundreds of millions of taxpayers dollars invested, the website still does not work for most, said Upton.
At a time when we can do everything from ordering a pizza, flowers, or airline tickets, or banking and paying bills, they expect the same reliable service from healthcare.gov and its still not ready for primetime.
Gore has global warming and obama has deathcare, a scam for everyone
Salesman: Obvious pattern. He did the same thing with Benghazi-gate, off to Nevada to campaign. Away from the fray. Leading from behind, his ‘behind’.
O would not make a pimple on a used car salesman’s you know what. To sell takes some credibility.
This is true, but as Rush so cogently pointed out yesterday, now that bambam has put out a date (Nov somethin or other) when the website will be fixed, the media has their marching orders.
At that point the truth about this disaster will be relegated to the conservative blogosphere and anyone venturing out of our little corral will be targeted w/ withering ridicule-- they'll be Palined.
Sure, we're all delighted that the incompetence of our enemies are out there for all to see, but this won't last. We need a strategy to extend this to Nov 2014 in order to regain congress and stop this thing once and for all.
“To sell takes some credibility.”
Yes it does with regards to most intelligent people.
But the crowd that bought “Hope & Change”, which is nothing more than an empty definitionless slogan, are still clinging to that product with vigor and glee.
The obama crowd is very good at selling stuff to the mindless.
No, they poked fun at you because you are the First ShamWow President, dummy.
The nitwits that votedfor him, which includes the massed media, would blindly buy fence post holes and sailboat fuel from Idi Obama.
“poked fun”
We despise you. You’re a POS.
OK, fun-poking over. For now.
He’s an embarrassment.
I’m changing the channel, get off my porch, put me on your do not call list, and get your %&$* hand out of my pocket...
Obama got a bunch of college students to dump their college health care plans for free Medicaid. And here I thought he was transferring money from the kids to seniors. I guess Harry had a reason to siphon $500B out of Medicare when he wrote the bill. /sarc
Has any member of the presstitudes ever asked Obama if he’s tried to use the website? Oh, I forgot, he gets to keep his plan.
Ill never stop fighting to help more hardworking Americans know the economic security of health care, he said.
LIAR! I am a hardworking, 59 year old woman who is being penalized by HIM for being hardworking and healthy. My premiums have almost doubled to be “compliant”, and to keep my premiums at that rate, the deductible is now $7500.
I will soon be getting my new plan “options” to fit my “needs” for 2014, which surely means further increases, as soon as they figure out how much more they need from me to pay for their redistribution plan of my income.
Obama is evil, and I will soon be UN-insured because this if foolishness.
Like any used car salesman Obama is trying to sell a used taxi cab as though it were just driven on Sunday by a little old lady.
You can't sell something if you don't understand the product. And it's pretty clear that Obama has no practical understanding of any aspect of Obamacare
The weekly radio address is a silly anachronism (made sillier by the media’s coverage) even under a Republican president, but at least Bush used third party nouns and pronouns almost exclusively.
Obama, of course, views it as One Minute Of Mein Kampf. Me, me, me, I, I, I. He really is the thinnest-skinned paranoid to step foot in DC, let alone the White House.
