A convoy of tractor-trailers planning to circle the Capital Beltway in protest of the federal government has begun its descent on the Washington area and is causing some traffic problems for the morning commute. So, how is this any different from a normal morning commute in the DC area? Seriously, in DC, an accident in the margin of a freeway--not blocking a lane at all--is enough to stop all traffic in the 6 lanes going that direction. The supporters of this can write what they will; it's a shame the protest isn't larger, and that its effect on DC traffic is imperceptible.

I wonder about the efficacy of this protest. The elites aren’t going to notice or be affected by this, but a whole lot of regular folks will, and I don’t think they’ll be very understanding of the message being put out this way. JMHO

Ten trucks? a convoy of ten trucks?

This is the local CBS station's traffic cam map. Looks like a normal rainy day around the Beltway.

This just pisses off regular citizens that are trying to go about their daily business. Now if the truckers blocked the driveways of certain congressman and senators, that would be effective.

The same way they are when liberal SEIU rent-a-mobs tie up traffic??
These people live inn the government-dependent DC bubble, and they need to know, and understand, just how pi***d off the heartland is.

I agree. This just pisses off regular citizens that are trying to go about their daily business. We deride the sheeple and LIV's for their cluelessness. Tell me, please, how do they awake from their stupor unless something is done to piss them off?

There are plenty of people in the DC area who travel 495 everyday who are on the same side as “the heartland.” Not everyone associated with the federal govt is an SEIU thug. I’m only questioning how many who see or are caught up in this have any idea what message is even being sent, and if this is the best method of sending it. Personally I like Right Brother’s suggestion, but that brings other issues.

"Seems like most trucks (and some cars) are honking in response."If you or I were stuck behind some asshole going 10 mph in the fast lane with clear road ahead on our way to work, we'd be honking too. (And it wouldn't be in support!)
If they're clogging ALL lanes, that's BS. What about ambulances?
This is the kind of stuff that affects the little guy, and hurts us.
