Shutdown shuts down Do Not Call Registry website
Today, I got a robocall. Its a pet peeve of mine, those calls from some mystery credit consolidation company that not only cant pronounce my name correctly, but also picks an under-the-gun-deadline moment to annoy me.
As Im on the National Do Not Call Registry, its a force of habit now to go to the website and fill out the complaint form. While it never stops the calls, just typing in the information is therapeutic. But today, the shutdown thwarted my efforts: Due to the government shutdown, we are unable to offer this website service at this time. We will resume normal operations when the government is funded.

If you have an answering machine or voice mail, be ready to have to run the phone call rings until you hear a voice. No voice, no response.
Thanks
exactly the costs.....were covered SOME TIME AGO
they assume were all as NAIVE as the Obama DEVOTEES!!
I filed a complaint regarding repeated robo-marketing calls to my cell phone. Several weeks later I got a certified letter from the Attorney General’s office informing me that they’d determined the calls were being placed over VOIP lines from Bulgaria, and hence, beyond their jurisdiction.
This list is now worthless apparently.
Some ‘robo calls’ are exempted. Political calls (of course) are exempt. Calls from Local, State and Federal agencies are exempt. Calls from organizations that you belong to, AARP, NRA, etc. are exempt......
We ave been getting calls ever since Obama came into office, to an UNLISTED phone number.
Every time I sign up in the Do Not Call registry I get inundated w/ spam calls.
IMO it has exactly the opposite effect. Yes, I’m aware charities, politics are exempt.
I’m talking ‘Last chance to reduce your CC interest rates’ and similar.
Website design, domain names, and web hosting are all paid in advance.
Claims to the contrary are completely bogus.

Debido al cierre del gobierno no podemos ofrecer este servicio telefónico en este momento. Nosotros reanudaremos el funcionamiento normal cuando el gobierno este fianciado.”
What about the other 149 languages.
Mikey. The “Do not call registry” is a myth. It hasn’t been functioning for years now. If it’s not a myth, then it’s a joke.
Their never has been a simple way to follow up on the complaints you file with the DNC registry. I know- I’ve filed, and I’ve tried.
They are about as useful as DemocRATs.
Thanks!
Id like the morons who chose to shut this puppy down to SPLAIN to thae average prospective used...WHY they NEEDED to do so,
the transparency is getting ever more so.
The only alternative left requires mass participation and cooperation. Take the call, find out what company is trying to sell what item, spread the word and boycott them. If they are near you, track down contact numbers for their executives and bombard them with 3 AM calls, or picket their homes or offices...get creative.
But the call/picket time could better be spent ridding ourselves of this freedom-endangering regime, instead of a mere annoyance.
yeah MM, but it’s $92?
Never worked anyway. The feds rarely prosecuted anyone for violating that law. We have several assholes that call all the time with impunity.
