Imagine that Jeff Bezos asked his vice-president for sales IT how many people had purchased products from Amazon the day before, and the veep said he'd get back to him "in a few weeks." How many nanoseconds do you think that hapless employee would last in his job?
But on today's Morning Joe, there was the Obama admin's David Simas, sporting the lofty title of Deputy Senior Advisor for Communications and Strategy, smiling insouciantly while saying that it would be a "few weeks" before the Obama admin would say how many people had signed up for Obamacare. Conclusion: either: 1. the Obama admin's information technology planning and implementation is grossly incompetent; and/or 2. President Obama doesn't want Americans to know just how few people have signed up for Obamacare--particularly in the young-and-healthy demographic, upon whose willingness to make the uneconomic choice of signing up the entire house of cards depends.

They need to try to figure out how to get all his non-existent Twitter followers to “sign up” so they have a number that goes beyond the hundred’s place.
Yeah, 34 Hispanics and 8 welfare queens.

Before the official sign up date, I went to mnsure.org (MN) and looked up rates. For my wife they would raise her premiums by $120 / month, and the deductible by $600 per year. So basically $2040 more per year before they would pay a penny of coverage.
For the cheaper plan... they have $5300 deductibles which includes prescriptions. So they don’t pay for anything until you hit $5300 + premiums in annual medical expenses.
“smiling insouciantly” - THAT’S WHAT THEY ALL DO, and that’s when you call them out by getting personal with them by pointing it out. They’ll drop that stupid smile and show who they really are in a split second. Romney knocked B-HO off of HIS stupid ‘nice guy’ crap in the debates, early on.
I’d wager that most who signed up were 0 bummer voters or members of congress who had to pass it to see what’s in it.
Please tell me you did not enter your personal information into that system. You can go here
http://kff.org/interactive/subsidy-calculator/
to get a guesstimate. I'm afraid that once you are into that system you will be the targeted by the obamma care thugs. I would recommend no one place ANY personal information into that database.
IOW, "We need time to fudge the numbers and hide all the problems"
The Kaiser site doesn’t tell you what the PREMIUMS are, though.
I want real, hard numbers for my arguments. I want to be able to lay it out and say< This is what I have out of pocket now, this is what I’ll have out of pocket if I use O-Vomitcare.
And seriously, is there any information being asked for on that site that the feds don’t already have?
There’s a massive credibility difference between “experts estimate” and “here is the dollar and cent amount that I was quoted”. I my situation (broadcast news media) I have to have real indisputable numbers.
Pay for healthcare?
Ain’t nobody got a dime for dat.
The biggest story of the day IMHO. The first step taken by the Administration on the to path to an inevitable Obamacare Rollout mea culpa.
What if you gave an Obamacare Rollout and nobody came? We are about to find out.
I have said all along that almost nobody will sign up. A few reasons and not the least of which is the horrendous cost. Most people just cannot afford it and the young don’t need it. They can’t pay their student loan payments how can they afford $175 a month for insurance? Especially if they have a master’s degree and are working 29 hours at the local food coop?
You bring up a good point. What will the enforcers do if it’s a choice between pet project #1 and pet project #2? My wife went back to school and got two masters degrees to become employable again in her field (It worked, big time) but left her with #700+ a month student loan payments.
So if someone has to make a choice between defaulting on student loans and paying for Ovomitcare, which agency wins? Do you claim a hardship loan deferment due to federally mandated healthcare premiums, or I thee a way to get your student loan payment included in the poverty subsidy calculations?
I don’t know the answers to these, but I question whether those who voted for it to see what was in it read to find out, or even bothered to ask the questions before ramming in through in the middle of the night.
I went to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois website (my current carrier) to see what would available. This happened after I got the ubiquitous “Dear John” letter telling me my current plan (you know, the one I could keep if I liked it?) just died. That site was working fine, so I entered some “hypothetical data” matching my current situation, and found that my new premium would be more than double the current level. And based on my income, very unlikely I qualify for any subsidies. I might get some small relief from the cap based on percent of income (8.5%, I think - not sure), but it would end up still being in effect a second mortgage payment for me. Not going that route.
What I’m looking into is the Christian Healthcare co-ops, like medishare, etc. I think the Obamacare people knew there would be a small but stubborn group of conscientious objectors who could ruin the whole scheme on religious grounds IF they provided them with no escape valve, so to keep things quiet, they provided that escape valve. Or maybe I’m giving the bill writers too much credit and its no more complicated than the co-ops found a way to get themselves a carve out.
In any event, the premiums in the co-ops are dramatically lower, especially for those of us who like to pay our own way most of the time (translate: high deductibles are fine with me), AND it satisfies the statute such that there will be no IRS problem either. I’m still waiting for someone here or elsewhere to tell me why I shouldn’t go that route, especially because I am a Christian and do believe in the co-ops’ underlying principle that Christians should share each others’ burdens, not as a matter of governmental
coercion, but as a matter of voluntary Christian love.
What is telling is the number who start the process,
and get to the part where it isn’t free,
and bail out.
Exactly.
Weekly information about new unemployment claims have not appeared this week.
BOTH!
The fatal flaw of Obama Care is the health of the young and the fact that if they do not have insurance they can still go to an emergency room and receive treatment at no charge if they have an accident, a runny nose or infection. The hospitals can not legally turn them away.
They would be fools to sign up for Obama Care. Why pay money if you can still get your health care for free. Those on welfare have no income and thus will not be assessed a penalty. A one percent penalty on zero income is still zero.
