In a move that makes a government shutdown very likely, House Republicans approved a spending plan early Sunday morning that would delay Obamacare for a year and repeal its tax on medical devices.
The temporary budget resolution now goes back to the Senate, where Democrats have consistently said any changes to President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law is a deal-killer.
...
The decision to vote on the House amendments overnight emerged from a rare weekend GOP caucus meeting called by House Speaker John Boehner. The votes, taken after midnight, were 231-192 for the Obamacare delay, and 248-174 for the medical device tax repeal, mostly along party lines.
Two Democrats broke rank and voted for the Obamacare delay: Mike McIntyre of North Carolina, and Jim Matheson of Iowa.
Seventeen Democrats voted for the tax repeal. Meanwhile, a bill to guarantee pay for military personnel during any shutdown passed 423-0.

Agree with all your points.
They are not in session because the fight is over, the democrats won, Boenher gave them what they needed the most, a delay.
I agree. Shut it down until further notice. When you are going in the wrong direction. The first thing you need to do is stop moving.
Ditto.

We’re LOOMED!
“...before that vanity symbolic filibuster that didnt accomplish anything.”
It may not have accomplished any substantive or procedural changes in the Senate, but some positives came out of it. I think it influenced the House’s response to the Senate’s bill; more people are tuning into to the details of the Obamacare disaster, the current and future harms it is inflicting.
Should we go back to the good old days when the man ruled the house, and the little lady just looked pretty? Why not? The current democrat regime and its syncophantic press want exactly that kind of arrangement. Whatever daddy(Obama) wants daddy gets. Enough said. Now send us some more tax money and shut up./p>
Boner's resolve has stiffened? (With apologies to Carlos Danger)
Idiots. They’re HELPING ZeroCare succeed!
It depends on what you define as failure. Did he win on cloture? No.
He gave a voice to those of us who are angry because the GOP has abandoned their constituents. He reminded us all standing on principle gets things done, things we did not think possible 2 weeks ago. It might start with baby steps, but we are moving forward.
The members of the House who were sent to Congress to repeal Obamacare gained strength as a group. They never would have consulted with Cruz had he not filibustered [not technically a filibuster, I know] last week. Boehner had no choice but to listen. He might fold yet, but if he does he will be seen as the loser he is. ( Gohmert caught leadership trying to be sneaky last night. Busted!!)
The dems are comparing us to:
1. slave owners (oppressors)
2. muslim terrorists (bombs strapped to chests)
3. Mafia (extortion)
4. My favorite: the GOP wil deny cancer treatment to every woman alive if Obamacare is defunded.
They are scared.
We are starting to unite. I would say that is a huge success.
Shut it down!
I’m sure we can stand not going to Federal parks or having the IRS breathing down our neck!
“the repubs just gave the democrats the greatest gift of the mid-term elections, a delay in Obamacare.”
You are delusional. Many people said the same thing after the supreme court upheld Obamacare before the last election.
If Obama wanted to delay the implementation he would just delay it. He doesn’t need an act of congress to do it.
He is planning to enroll millions of people on Obamacare next year with subsidized health insurance and they will all vote democrat.
Barn voters will not see any of the huge increases in payroll deductions for a year, that is what the delay gives them.
So the .gov mercenaries will still be paid, when they receive their orders to open fire on Tea Party rallies and burn down patriots' houses.
