A seventh-grade student in Virginia Beach, Va., has been suspended from school for playing with an airsoft gun with a friend in his front yard while waiting for the school bus.
WAVY-TV reports that 13-year-old Khalid Caraballo will find out soon if he will be expelled for "possession, handling and use of a firearm" because the guns were fired at two others playing in Caraballo's yard.

The school's so-called "zero-tolerance" policy on guns extends to private property, according to the report.

"It's on your school record. The school said I had possession of a firearm. They aren't going to ask me any questions. They are going to think it was a real gun, and I was trying to hurt someone," he said.

The inmates are running the asylum.
Um, HIS front yard.
The government crackdown will escalate until we get to the point where heinous transgressors like this child are just "disappeared". It's what the Left does.
living in virginia... what’d you expect? might as well live in new york
He’s her property until he becomes the schools property????
btw... ‘firearm’ ... it was an airsoft gun. no fire was involved.
at best, it was a projectile weapon
The bureaucrats are totally out of control.
(Although 13yo ‘Khalid’ with a gun doesn’t inspire confidence.)
The school's so-called "zero-tolerance" policy on guns extends to private property, according to the report.
Likely to include Pop-Tarts chewed down into "gun" shapes? Government schools suck.
The Public Indoctrination System apparently owns our kids before they even leave their homes, now. Appalling totalitarianism.
Insanity.
Defund the Left’s indoctrination centers and padlock the doors for good.
If school authorities or teachers cannot, or will not, make a distinction between a real “firearm” and a toy they are not mentally or morally competent to be in a position of responsibility and influence over children of any age.
Hes her property until he becomes the schools property????
*************
I noticed that comment too, but I think she meant that the incident took place on “their” property.
Chalk it up to a nervous mom?
Maybe someone ought to explain to the school the difference between a toy gun and an actual firearm. They should include actual examples of each.
golly as kids we used to play Cops & Robbers, Cowboys & Indians, etc. I wonder what they want the kids to do when they play?? Let me guess??
So, I’m guessing paint ball and going duck hunting are out? You value your freedom to go and hunt as guaranteed by the 2nd amendment(at least that’s what the libs think)and just the mere thought that you might embrace that freedom you get a mark on your “permanent record”. The downward spiral continues. Insanity prevails. DON’T ever let your kids post pics of them hunting on social networks or they are doomed to being ostracized by the elitists.
Said policy also covers bladed weapons. I would posit that every child in the district should face the same punishment, for the cutlery in their kitchens.
Why am I laughing? I was just at parents weekend at Ohio University Athens Ohio and our daughter wanted to go to Wal-Mart to get a better nerf weapon for her Humans vs. Zombies ARG she is entered in that takes place on Campus.
While visiting the campus this weekend I watched several students and a few profs and staff have a large nerf weapon battle on the quad. They take their Humans vs. Zombies ARG seriously and practice often.
I guess Southern Ohio is just different. ;-)
