Having tried and failed to sell restive conservatives on plans to keep the government open without picking a fight over Obamacare, it appears that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is moving on to Plan C: Giving in to people like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) who are insisting that any bill to keep the government open after Sept. 30 must defund Obamacare.
National Review's Robert Costa tweets:
House GOP sources confirm: House GOP WILL soon bring a CR to floor that also defunds, thus putting pressure on Cruz & co to get thru Senate Robert Costa (@robertcostaNRO) September 17, 2013
House GOP ldrs basically saying, "Ok, Ted and conservative activists, if you think you can rally public behind this, get it thru Senate..." Robert Costa (@robertcostaNRO) September 17, 2013
"... and if you can't, you're going to have to let us use another option. But we'll play along and try this--for now." Robert Costa (@robertcostaNRO) September 17, 2013
I guess the idea is that House Republicans will open with a demand of defunding Obamacare and see if Senate Democrats agree to go along. (Spoiler alert: They won't.) The question is how long Republicans have to leave this demand out there until they've officially determined the strategy isn't going to work.

Yes, but it will take a constant barrage of Repukes on the television stating that’s the case... because the media scum isn’t going to say the jug-eared moron is responsible for hi own irresponsible actions. He WANTS the fight, 1) because he’s a gutless, limp-wristed libtard who doesn’t take ownership of any of the clusters he has created, and 2) he knows Tammy Fay Boehner will fold quicker than a cheap Samsonite chair at Thanksgiving dinner.
Tammy Fay Boehner ...... what a killer tag line
Nobama is big on playing “why don’t you and him fight”.
I may be wrong, but I see this time this fight to postpone nobamacare is something even nobama secretly wants. The dems, even Buffett are seeing the writing on the wall. The undercover word may have even gone to Boehner.
Nobama will use the shut-down fight to try to draw some blood from the Pubbies, but will shortly say “we have to postpone nobamacare because the mean ol GOP is forced gubmit shutdown and I’ll give in temporarily to save America”. Politics is such a dirty game.
I say we need to stop sending American jobs to China.
We need to make things in America once again.
We need to bring back American manufacturing.
Stop sending American jobs abroad. Bring back American jobs, to America.
It's all you've posted around here for years. We've heard you ten thousand times.
Either that, or just admit that you have no freaking idea how to bring American jobs back to America.
Sure I do.
We need to bring back American manufacturing, and stop buying everything from China.
Hello?
Our national deficit is 17 trillion dollars.
Yet we are sending manufacturing out of the country, so we can send even more money overseas.
Bring back American manufacturing.
Now.
How? By simply demanding it? Of who? Your fellow Freepers?
Come on, man. Tell us how to bring jobs back to the U.S.
Slaves don't get wages. Here is the definition of a slave:
Slavery is a system under which people are treated as property to be bought and sold, and are forced to work.
Here in this country we have a free market which means you are able to hire out your labor according to what someone is willing to pay. If it doesn't suit you, you are free to upgrade your skills or start your own business and reap the results of the value you can provide.
I wasted a large portion of my life making other people rich. When I went out on my own I made more money and it was more satisfying. I would never work for someone else again.
I think if the GOP just told the people, say picking 5 income ranges, and telling them how much they would HAVE to pay, every year, FOREVER for health care.....as opposed to having the option of deciding if they want to have health care, and when....and not being fined!
But they don’t. Which has me believing that there is a lot of money to be made maybe reconstructing the economy after the odumbicare wrecking ball hits it. And their just might be a bi-partisan desire to reap some of that cash.
You might want to catch up with the GOP Healthcare ammendment being voted on in the House today.
OK here’s a basic framework:
Build a base tax, which applies to all imported goods.
(Not applying to any goods, made in the United States.)
So the tax applies only to imports. Make that base tax big enough, so that manufacturers see a benefit in bringing back American manufacturing.
ENACT THE TAX.
The let nature build-back American goods.
Do this now.
You're talking about a tariff.
It's been done before, and the result is always a trade war. Other countries soon follow suit, and American exports have foreign tariffs slapped on them, which kills sales of American goods in those countries. Which of course results in layoffs, shrinkage, and less jobs at home.
Tariffs are force. They do not work.
You'll need to dream up a solution that is attractive and rewarding to all players, if you want jobs to come back to America.
I disagree.
Our imports and exports made a lot more sense, when we imported and exported.
Now we are sending all American businesses overseas.
Bring it back. Now.
The way to start bringing it back is to end all of these regulations and taxes and other crap that drove them away in the first place.
Ask yourself why so much US manufacturing has gone overseas. Answer that question correctly, and you'll discover the path to attracting businesses back to the U.S.
The answer may not be what you want to hear, but you have to start with the truth if you really want to find a solution. You've really got to dig into this issue deep enough, and educate yourself sufficiently, to get a grip on the actual causes and effects in play, if you want to solve it.
Or, you could just keep demanding that American businesses bring their facilities back home. Maybe if you say it enough times, it'll come true.
US manufacturing has gone overseas because other countries are manipulating their own manufacturing to capture them.
Bring back US manufacturing, to America.
Ok. So how do you stop them from doing that? What can America DO to get our companies to bring the jobs back home?
Well I for one am for immediately raising US taxes, on foreign-made products.
That’s just my approach, but it would work.
Ah, don’t you think the answers to some of those questions are pertinent to your ability to drive safely?
The answer is, until it works.
I think I see how this ends: Ubama and the rats will agree to "delay" implementation for everybody else the way they already delayed it for corporations and other special interests. See, this way, everybody "wins". The Republicans get to pat themselves on the back and claim they brought (the lame duck, so who cares?) Ubama to his knees, and the rats get off the hook from having to defend Mengelecare leading up to the 2014 elections (that is, the next year won't be daily headlines full of Mengelecare implementation nightmares). I swear, this is the outcome both sides want.
The whole thing is nothing but bukakke theater.
Good God you are tiresome.
You SPAM every damn post and thread, regardless of what it is about, with your single minded one issue whine.
Just what union do you work for, anyway?
