Despite Skeptical Public, Obama Will Take Credit for Economic Recovery Monday
AP/CNS News ^ | 9/16/2013 | JIM KUHNHENN

President Barack Obama is seeking credit for an economic turnaround, using the fifth anniversary of the collapse of the Lehman Brothers investment bank to highlight signs of recovery and to warn against potentially market-rattling fights over the federal budget and the nation's debt ceiling.

Obama was scheduled to address the state of the economy Monday in a Rose Garden speech, accompanied by a selection of Americans who the White House says have benefited from the administration's policies. The event marks the start of a week-long focus on the economy after a month of preoccupation with the crisis in Syria.

For Obama, the anniversary of Lehman's bankruptcy in 2008, which marked the beginning of the global financial crisis and played havoc with an economy already in recession, is an opportunity to confront public skepticism about his stewardship of the economy and to put down his marker for budget clashes with Congress in the weeks ahead.

What better way to wrap “recovery summer” # 4 (or is it #5)...

I guess that the campaigner in chief thinks that the suedo hustle and bustle of his people running through that extra four billion bucks a day is recovering. The getters surely think Christmas comes monthly. Some business owners benefit but all of us ultimately suffer. A bankrupt nation.

A few days ago, I saw an article about how people are driving less despite the economic recovery, and how this behavior does not correspond to driving behavior during past recoveries. I was a tad incredulous.

Sounds like a ‘pronouncement’ from the Ministry of Truth doesn’t it?

Another way of telling how bad the economy is off, (Empirically any way), is to go to WalMart on the first of the Month. That’s when the Government refreshes the EBT cards, etc. Count the number of vehicles in the parking lot. Go again on the Same day of the Week the First was on, only three weeks later. Count the number of cars again.

Those two numbers will give you a quick ratio that can be used to determine the percentage of people with cars in your area that are on Government assistance. You might or might not be surprised at how bad it really is.

ANYONE in BUSINESS or that STILL HAS A JOB will call obunghole a liar. He is now on his way to the bottom. He lies about everything and 70% of America are now seeing this fact clearly. His numbers and support will continue to decline and along with his numbers... so will his party’s numbers.

Doing a victory lap around a burnt-out building, and the American Pravda Press will dutifully report the AMAZING PROSPERITY.

The Pravda Press no longer cares about credibility, and the Administration NEVER cared about competence.

We are the Soviet Union in all but name.

Gas still nearly double what it was when elected, Milk higher than that for premium brands, 1lb hamburger $4-$6+ depending on fat content, Bacon, $5-6/lb, cheese, bread, butter, eggs - all up a lot.....

My bank interest rates? still getting about 1 cent per month on the balance...

Strip mall stores? Still a lot of empty storefronts, car lots still not full, especially GM ones in my town. Town full of EITC, WICs, TANF, SNAP, Section 8 heiffers who need Michelle’s national workout tape......

Yeah....economy rebounded.......ha.

He’s pivoting again.

You know, he reminds of one of the Atlanta Housewives twirling her “Gone with the Wind” fabulosity and is every bit as vacuous.

My “tell” on the economy is garbage. Garbage day, are there boxes that indicate the purchase of high-ticket items? Or is there just garbage?

One man's poser's recovery is another man's (or nation's) economic depression.

Obama thinks it's a recovery when you hit the absolute bottom and things stop getting worse.

I heard them say on Fox this weekend that the true unemployment rate is 14%, if you count all the people who have quit looking for work, or are working part time when they really want full time work.

The latest number I heard is that there are 1.9 MILLION fewer jobs now than in 2008.

The labor force participation rate (percent of U.S. population that is employed) is at a 30 year low as shown in the chart below.

This figure does not include people who lost their jobs and have been unemployed for more than one year.
The government considers them to be "discouraged" and no longer seeking a job. (how convenient for the government bean counters)

Did just that, hired three kids, just out of high school. One welder, two for the warehouse. No college corruption and the’re actually doing pretty good.
Tried using the temp agencies, all they sent me were zombies, maintaining the appearance of looking for a job, to stay on unemployment .

Only in the brave new world of Obama’s America, it’s more like “They pretend to be disabled, and they still get paid.”

But, seriously, how long can it last?
