Tension in Syria between rival rebel groups reached new heights as the US threatened to strike President Bashar al-Assad's regime.
Radical armed groups - some with alleged links to al-Qaeda - say they fear US missile attacks against Syrian military installations would also target them, and that the West was seeking to use moderate rebel factions to keep them in check - much as the US-funded "Awakening Councils" did in Iraq. The result is increasing animosity in Syria between seld-described "jihadist" groups and Western-backed fighters.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL), an armed group operating in Syria and a US-designated "terrorist organisation", announced last week it would "go to war" against two other rebel groups in the town of al-Bab, in Aleppo governorate.
ISIL's leadership is based in Iraq and its ranks include many non-Syrian fighters. It has declared a "purifying maliciousness" military campaign to round up fighters from the al-Nasr and al-Farouq battalions, both operating under the loose banner of the Western-backed Supreme Military Council.

Got popcorn?
Ooooh...a three way. I'd bet Obama has a woodie at the prospect. As long as it doesn't involve Michelle.
If only.
Wow!!!!
The only bright spot to this debacle for the administration Islamamites is that they will be able to import the surviving bloodthirsty, head-slicing savages to this country as political refugees.
IF the FDA tries to fight both the terrorists and
assad’s forces they will get their clocks cleaned.
If the FSA tries to fight both the terrorists and
Assad’s forces they will get their clocks cleaned.
Assad maybe dangerous to Al-Qaeda, but not the USA.
Sorry, I thought that was obligatory due to the Rebel Alliance reference.
ROFLMAO!!!
Isn’t this partially what happened in Egypt and Libya? Once the best fighters, many not from those countries, won the battle, the US wanted to install governments that were friendly to us. Can’t much see the terrorists wanting to fight our fights and then be left out of the governing part.
You beat me to it.
You beat me to it as well...
