Russias Moskva missile cruiser, dubbed by a carrier-killer by NATO, has passed through the Straits of Gibraltar and is now heading toward the eastern Mediterranean to join the Russian naval force as flagship.
The Russian Navy said in a statement that the Moskva cruiser passed through the Straits of Gibraltar on September 10.
Interfax news agency added that the Moskva cruiser, commanded by Sergey Tronev, Captain 1st Rank of the Guards
has enough room for maneuver now.
The Black Sea flagship entered the Russian Navy's area of responsibility in the Mediterranean at 11:00 pm Moscow time yesterday," the agency reported a military source as saying.
The missile-carrying cruiser is expected to join its final destination in eastern Mediterranean on September 15 or 16.

Emboldened by Obama’s weakness; I can see a remote possibility of WW III breaking out.

The Russians aren’t itching for war. They just like flexing their muscles and pushing the pussy in the WH around.

As I understand it, Russian naval doctrine does not consider these ships to be survivable. They are designed to loose two salvos of eight missiles each at a US Battle Group and then wait around for the inevitable torpedo that will sink them. But by that time, the damage is done. The fire-and-forget missiles will be heading toward their targets at Mach 2+.

Is it just me or are things starting to read like Red Storm Rising? I was trying to think of what movie would best describe our current sitution but the best I can do is a mish mash of Dr. Strangelove, Conspiracy Theory , and Twelve Monkeys.

Mmmm, makes we want to join the Russian navy... not. No wonder they serve vodka on ship.

Good pic. Sort of looks like a floating Stalin-Organ from WWII.

Legend has it the US Navy used to have a nuclear torpeodo. You couldn’t get out of range before the blast so it was a last resort FU weapon. Like I said, legend.

Why couldn't you get out of range? The Mark 45 torpedo had a range of 5 to 8 miles and a yield of 11 kilotons. At that range, it's certainly not going to take out the sub that launched it.
