Russian agit-prop.

But, still it is worth noting.

I am sure a Seawolf or LA class is right on her tail.

Emboldened by Obama’s weakness; I can see a remote possibility of WW III breaking out.

Is it just me or are things starting to read like “Red Storm Rising”?

In case you're wondering what a "carrier-killer" looks like...

Agreed. "Carrier killer" is a cute name for a 30 y/o ship that was outclassed when it was new. Still, Putin's dealing with Obama here, so the symbolism matters far more than the substance.

I do not think the CVN is viable against an enemy for whom it poses an existential threat.

I know most don’t agree, and, obviously, we won’t find out until the shooting starts.

Do not confuse this Moskva with the former helicopter carrier, Moskva.

This Moskva is a cruiser and was previously named Slava (Glory). Slava was the lead ship of Cruiser class.

It's armed with 16x SS-N-12 SANDBOX anti-ship missiles
8x8 (64) S-300PMU Favorit (SA-N-6 Grumble) long-range surface-to-air missiles
2x20 (40) OSA-MA (SA-N-4 Gecko) SR SAM
1x twin AK-130 130mm/L70 dual purpose guns
6xAK-630 close-in weapons systems
2x RBU-6000 anti-submarine mortars
10x(2 quin) 533mm torpedo tubes

It is the SANDBOX missiles that give it its "carrier killer" reputation.

I will not discuss its various vulnerabilities.

Despite Bam’s efforts to make us a third world nation we still have the best N=navy in the world and could take the Moskva out in minutes,

I’d make a snide comment about not having to worry about a Russian carrier killing cruiser since we haven’t sent any of our carriers to the region. But I have little confidence that that sort of analysis isn’t exactly what’s being discussed at the highest levels of the Administration.

“The Black Sea flagship entered the Russian Navy's area of responsibility in the Mediterranean

Uh, just wondering, but how does the Black Sea fleet ship enter the Mediterranean by way of Gibraltar? That'd be a heck of a detour over land.
