SHOT ACROSS THE BOW: Second Amendment Wins: CO Senate Majority Leader RECALLED *UPDATED
Gateway Pundit ^ | September 10, 2013 | Dana Loesch

Colorado Democrat Senate Majority Leader John Morse concedes.

Colorado Democrats need a new senate leader. History was made tonight in Colorado as Democrat Senate Majority Leader John Morse was recalled for abridging Coloradans’s Second Amendment civil liberties. The tally is currently 52%-48%. According to Kelly Maher of Revealing Politics, Morse supporters need to “beat us two to one in remaining ballots.” Impossible.

It’s the first wave of legislative battles planned by citizens angry at state lawmakers who denied them a vote on their Second Amendment rights. As it stands now State Senator Angela Giron is narrowly ahead of her recall.

Morse conceded around 11:30 eastern time.

I’ve said this repeatedly: Colorado is ground zero for our gun rights. It is the litmus test for the country.

“Here’s the bottom line,” said Kurt Bardella, president and CEO of Endeavor Strategic Communications, which is consulting with the groups seeking to oust Morse and Giron. “What happens in one week will have significant implications for the overall debate on gun-control. … Lawmakers at every level of government see Colorado as a bellwether as to whether they can risk pursuing a more aggressive gun-control agenda.”

Maybe Morse can get a job with Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun group. Colorado seems to be shifting from blue to purple.

Will develop with Giron results.

*UPDATE 1: Giron’s lead has flipped to a trail. 57%-43%

Great news! Way to go CO voters!!!

I’m so glad that you guys shoved Morse and Giron out the door for passing their stupid “gun control” laws against the will of CO citizens.

A fair warning to any other politician that dares to violate the 2nd Amendment...

...spelling Nazis. You know who you are, jerks.

WTH? You're proud of being illiterate? Don't know what else to make of that statement.

In the meantime, congratulations Coloradans!

Maybe we can vote out some top RINO’s in 2014 then

Exactly my thought. I'm hoping this portends an amazing turn-around in the U.S. Congress next year.

it's not over, but it's a good start.

It is the first pause in the hemorrhaging in Colorado. I hope that it is the beginning of a direction change in Colorado. The conservatives are beginning to get animated and the Dems are vulnerable. The Pueblo win is huge! If a democrat can lose there, nowhere but Denver and Boulder is sanctuary for them.

Good comments; you're definitely paying attention. I wish that I could be more hopeful about Colorado after this victory. I lived there for more than a decade and am familiar with the politics of the state.

The victory in Pueblo is great and will probably dissuade the Left from pushing any more gun control nationally for some time. On the other hand, the vote in Colorado Springs is too close for comfort; 343 votes should have been 2000. Just the same, we'll take what we can get.

To the broader picture... If Colorado were actually trending Conservative, American, Constitutional; then, Hickenlooper would never have been elected Governor.

A 2nd Amendment victory is good but it is, in my opinion, the most solid political issue that the Right has. This is so because everyone from the mightiest CEO to the littlest man on the street gets the 2nd Amendment - a man with a gun has power - no more is needed; it's simple; and no amount of propagandizing can alter that simple understanding of that simple truth.

Since the little guy understands the 2nd Amendment, a victory at the ballot box is not too surprising and it's certainly good to go 2-0 rather than 1-1. But, the little guy does not understand the other issues that confront us, and here, we are in trouble.

Colorado, in particular, has taken in many immigrants, legal and illegal, and they overwhelmingly vote Left. The state has also taken in many migrants from places such as CA and NY; and they vote Left. There are some wonderful patriots in Colorado fighting the good fight, but, I'm concerned for the future; I hope that I'm wrong.

It would be curious to find out the last time that Pueblo County sent a Republican Senator to Denver. It’s quite possible not since the 1920s.

“FAMOUS WAR OF 1812 QUOTE:
“We have met the enemy and they are ours.”
Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry (1785-1819)
American Navy officer
The immortal message Perry sent on September 10, 1813 to U.S. General William Henry Harrison about the Battle of Lake Erie. That day, American ships under Perry’s command defeated a British naval squadron and captured all of the British ships. After the battle, Perry scrawled a brief report to Harrison on the back of an envelope. It said: “Dear General: We have met the enemy and they are ours. Two ships, two brigs, one schooner and one sloop. Yours with great respect and esteem, O.H. Perry.” The first sentence became one of the most famous U.S. Navy quotations in history.”

200 years ago TODAY. Perry lost his flagship but won the battle of Lake Erie.

Give us some sound tomorrow, boys. THAT enemy in toto is ours, too.

“This will flop the balance in the Colorado Senate to Republican by one seat, which means R’s will control all the committees.”

Unfortunately not. Before the recall 20-15. After, 18-17.

But what this means is that the next legislative session will be sweet moderation from the dems. Without a margin, they cannot protect vulnerable dems from having to cast hard votes on controversial measures and 2014 is coming. So we won’t see many controversial measures from a very radical Colorado dem controlled senate.

“I am not surprised with Morse getting recalled. Colorado Springs is a conservative area. But, Pueblo???”

Actually, both districts were won by Obama by 20+ points in 2012. They are both SAFE or ULTRA-SAFE dem districts.

I think the difference in the recall margins is that Morse race was the more important and he got a lot more money from Bloomberg et al. He was the Senate president. Two of the reasons he was chosen was he was in a safe district and term-limited, hence, the dems thought he was immune to voter pressure when he acted like an a$$hole. So he bacame a public face for the gun grabbers.

Giron was chair of the “kill” committee, where Republican bills are sent by leadership to die. She was there because dems though she could vote to kill popular Republican bills because she too was in a safe district. In her district, the swing was 32% from Obama’s margin to her loss. Ouch.

Recall is effective immediately. So both are out of office as of about 10 pm this evening. Dems still hold a one seat majority in the Senate and will have to select a new Senate President and a new chair for the kill committee.
