Barack Obama’s delusions of grandeur: compares Syria intervention to fighting World War Two
The London Telegraph ^ | September 8, 2013 | Nile Gardiner

Posted on 09/08/2013 2:38:51 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

A key part of President Obama’s press conference in St. Petersburg last Friday went largely under the radar in the US media – his bizarre analogy between the crisis in Syria, and the London Blitz. Obama attempted to draw a comparison between America’s hesitancy to enter World War Two in 1940 and 1941, to widespread scepticism over a military intervention in Syria over 70 years later. As the president put it:

"Those kinds of interventions, these kinds of actions are always unpopular, because they seem distant and removed.

And I want to make sure I’m being clear. I’m not — I’m not drawing an analogy to World War II, other than to say when London was getting bombed, it was profoundly unpopular, both in Congress and around the country, to help the British.

It doesn’t mean it wasn’t the right thing to do. It just means people, you know, are struggling with jobs and bills to pay, and they don’t want their sons or daughters put in harm’s way. And these entanglements far away are dangerous and different."

In essence, the point Obama is trying to make is that a failure by Congress or the American people to support his Syria plan is the equivalent of the United States’ refusal to enter the conflict in Europe in the early years of World War Two. To say the least, this is a ludicrous assertion, one that smacks of sheer desperation as public and Congressional opposition mounts to a Syria intervention. According to The Washington Post’s calculations, in the House of Representatives a mere 25 Members support strikes against Syria, compared to 226 who are “against military action” or “lean no.” (Only 217 House Members are needed to defeat a resolution.)....

President Obama is suffering from delusions of grandeur.

He thinks he is FDR, JFK, MLK, Lincoln, Washington all rolled into one.

This man is probably worse than Jimmy Carter who was absolutely the worst US President in modern times...until (2008) now.

The House needs to take that vote and go on record telling the _resident to take his plans and shove them, despite the fact that it would cause him to lose face.

I have no idea what Boehner and the House leadership are thinking by not taking the vote if they don’t have the votes to support war, but the people’s voice needs to be heard loud and clear on this and the vote is how it’s done!

If Boehner won’t put the question to a vote, get someone with the balls in that position to do it! I’m damn sick and tired of these ball-less, spineless wimps _ussying out when it comes to opposing the dope-smoking, dog-eating, Marxist Kenyan Muslim in the White Hut!

Put the resolution to the vote so that you have the House on record as denying him the authority to take this country to war! Then, if he does so against Congressional authority, you have grounds for impeachment right then and there!

But Boehner has no balls for such a fight! He doesn’t lead the loyal opposition but a bunch of wimpering, simpering lap dogs!

and FUJM/LG!

Actually Obama, you are such a dipwad, we do not trust you to be Commander and lead us into a war. And it is not just you, Obama, your whole regime is full of sick communist kooks and clowns.

And that sums it about up. What is so terribly frightening is the vast amount of Americans who don't see his mental illness nor the horrific danger he has managed to put us in. In fact, yes I state this very realistically, his whole regime needs to be removed from office for treason. The democrat party needs to rein in their leaders or remove them from position.

I no longer believe we can muddle through the rest of his term, especially when we have our own kooks like Boehner and McCain feeding the egotistical narcissistic maniac!

And We the People need to remind these "elected" representatives that their job, their loyalty rests with Constitution and the people who elected them...not the President. Not every facet of the President's agenda is right and in the case of the President we need to stop making every opposition to his agenda about race.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt, it is running deep, swift and fast in the democrat party. We've got to find a way and find the right language to break through this glass ceiling called racism our very country is depending on us.

And, then he draws the analogy.
