The Exorcist interviewed by Tgcom24: "The Vigil of the Pope will give infliction not only to Satan, but I do not want to name names"
DOMENICO AGASSO JR
ROME
"All those who want war are tools of the devil." The exorcist - and writer - Father Gabriele Amorth weighed in on the situation in Syria, in the interview by Fabio Marchese Ragona in his blog Vatican Stanzas as Tgcom24. "The Papal Vigil will give infliction not only to Satan, but I do not want to name names," said Fr. Amorth. The Exorcist was talking about the vigil in St. Peter's Square organized and promoted by the Pope on Saturday, said: "Of course the Pope wants to move forward with this initiative, and affect, I am sure, the U.S. Congress." "Those who want the war in Syria are tools of the devil," the honorary president of the International Association of Exorcists thundered. The Pauline priest says that he is totally opposed to a possible U.S. raid: "The Lord is a God of peace - he continued He wants peace, wants love among men, solidarity and He wants to help, so that those who is rich aid the poor. And it is Satan who wants the death and war. "
Father Amorth does not agree with the idea of U.S. President Barack Obama, according to which a blitzkrieg would be useful to eliminate the possibility of use of chemical weapons on the people by the regime of Bashar al-Assad: "I hold to the phrase Pius XII said to avoid the Second World War: 'All is lost with war, everything can be saved with the peace'. All violent systems are to be condemned. "
Father Amorth believes that the Vigil on Saturday will be invaluable: "The Pope is intended to influence. In what way? As Pope, praying for God's help, this is the way we act as Christians. Not with bombs to counter other bombs, but with prayers to counter the bombs. "
I understand that many Freepers have theological disagreements with Catholicism that can be discussed on other threads. I urge the reader to concentrate on the political and spiritual aspect of this historic juncture in which America finds herself, and not turn this thread into a confessional dispute about the papacy, prayer, fasting or exorcism.
Previously on the topic of Syrian Civil War:

Russia gave UN 100-page report in July blaming Syrian rebels for Aleppo sarin attack
I’m hoping that Amorth means that the Syrian soldiers and rebels and leaders are devils too.

I would hope that just about everyone can agree that this is a suitable occasion for prayer, even if, for any reason, they are unable or unwilling to fast.
The more people join their prayers to this effort to implore God to prevent Obama’s evil war from being fought on the wrong side, killing women and children, especially Christians—all for his own personal reasons—the better.
And, although it is unclear where the Israeli government stands at the moment, I would hope that Jewish Freepers will also join in saying a prayer that God will act to prevent this evil war from taking place.
I am not sure about the regular soldiers in the Syrian army. They don’t “want” war, they merely defend the country they serve.
Definitely, the rebels who chose to fight, wish to provoke a military response from the US and have destroyed multiple Christian churches, monasteries and villages are nothing but Satan hirelings.
If so, this Southern Baptists says Amen.
We as the entire body of believers have much bigger battles coming up than to get mired in theological hair splitting. Jesus is Lord, and the time is getting very short. It’s time to spread the Gospel and PRAY!
Amen!
The Jewish people for sure have nothing to gain from al Qaeda Islamic rebel army taking over the pluralistic regime in Syria.
Me too...
U.S. policy towards Syria is bafflingly inconsistent.[...]
Most puzzling of all, though, is why the United States seems so determined to eradicate Christianity in one of its oldest heartlands, at such an agonizingly sensitive historical moment.
Syria has always been a complex place religiously. Although the country has a substantial Sunni Muslim majority, it also has large minority communitiesChristians, Alawites, and otherswho together make up over a quarter of the population. Those communities have survived very successfully in Syria for centuries, but the present revolution is a threat to their continued existence.
Sadly, Westerners tend to assume that Arabs are, necessarily, Muslims, and moreover, that Muslims are a homogeneous bunch. Actually, 10 percent of Syrians are Alawites, members of a notionally Islamic sect that actually draws heavily from Christian and even Gnostic roots: they even celebrate Christmas. Locally, they were long known as Nusayris, Little Christians. Syria is also home to several hundred thousand Druze, who are even further removed from Sunni orthodoxy.
And then there are the Christians. If Christianity began in Galilee and Judea, it very soon made its cultural and intellectual home in Syria. St. Paul famously visited Damascus, and for centuries Antioch was one of the worlds greatest Christian centers. (The city today stands just over the Turkish border.) A sizable Christian population flourished under Islamic rule, and continued under the Ottomans. Muslim and Christian populations always interacted closely here. A shrine in Damascuss Great Mosque claims to be the location of John the Baptists head.

The pioneering theorist of modern Arab nationalism was Damascus-born Orthodox Christian Constantine Zureiq. Another Orthodox son of Damascus was Michel Aflaq, co-founder of the Baath (Renaissance) Party that played such a pivotal role in the modern history of both Iraq and Syria.
Since the 1960s, Syria has been a Baathist state, which in practice has meant the hegemony of the religious minorities who dominate the countrys military and intelligence apparatus. Hafez al-Assad (President from 1971 through 2000) was of course an Alawite, but by the 1990s, five of his seven closest advisers were Christian.
Without going into detail...the Pope has seen through the Obama lies and cries inside for both the Syrians and Americans that would be killed, just to cover Obama’s butt!!! Congress Critters...His excellency is right on target!!! Obama should be Impeached!!! Vote “NO” and deny Obama....the would be Hitler, approval to attack Syria. The Pope’s message and 70,000 people gathered in Rome to support the Pope are telling America, the enemy is within you!!!
I do not want to see one American military person to be placed in harm’s way, to get killed, maimed, captured, wounded, tortured to protect this incompetent, ego driven, maniac, Obama!!! Let Obama and his Obamabot minions go to Syria and take care of Assad!!!
I LIKE IT!! Bring in some righteous indignation! Psychopaths who want war ARE tools of the devil!
Amen, Amen, Amen.
I suppose vigils are cool. Nice of the friar to speak up. But if it’s true that Christian churches are being destroyed where the bleep is Pope Frankie?. Maybe he’s a democrat too and just doesn’t want to embarrass Obamuzzie? I would expect his White Smokyness to be screaming from the roof top. Hey Pope-—listen up-—name some names and call some people out or shut the bleep up about right and wrong, happiness and unicorns.
Agreed.
South Korea is horrified by Obama’s drawing a red line on chemical weapons, threatening war, and then backing down. Not because they want this war, but because Obama’s actions are sending North Korea a message—that Obama cannot be trusted to punish anyone who attacks America’s allies with chemical or nuclear weapons.
Israel must feel backed into a corner. They don’t really want to exchange Assad for a gang of vicious Islamists. But they also don’t want Iran to think they can safely use nuclear weapons against Israel because Obama will back down again if they do.
This whole business is terrible from just about every perspective.
God has signaled the Democrats are the party of Satan when they publicly denied God three times at their national convention.
His Holiness condemned the rebels and called for peace in Syria all along. Yes, churches ARE destroyed, — what do you think these pictures show?
American people are horrified because if we take the Islamists’ bait on this one, we’ll be running to help al Qaeda every time they blow something up someplace.
Good call.
