(Vanity) This old Republican has had it...
September 3, 2013 | Self

I finally had enough! We've finally gotten to a one party system in Washington as the republicans have completely lost any relevance. If you stand for nothing you stand for everything.

Here's my email to the RNC...

'Please remove me from all RNC mailings. The Republican party has become indistinguishable from the Dems and insider backscratching seems to be the name of the game rather than standing on conservative principles. I will be ending my party affiliation on my next trip to the county courthouse."

besides picking and choosing candidates like Ted Cruz I don’t care what the other options are, if there is another option I would like to know

Maybe we can organize local “burn your bumpersticker” events,,,or something like that. ORrrrrrr, collect up all RNC based info and send it back to DC.

I’ve always head that Conservatives forming a third party is a sure-fire losing strategy.

Yeah, that may be, but then again, Lindsey Graham, John McCain, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, et., al. haven’t worked out so great either.

The Republicans will be a third party before too long.

Took ya long enough.

I turned right when GW made that sharp left turn soon after the 2004 election.

Since then, I have not seen one ‘Republican’ rise to be the cream of the crop. There are a couple of strong maybes, but there are also dozens of disappointments, including Rubio and my own former district House member who defeated Blanch Lincoln for the Senate but turned sort of moderate when he got to Washington.

What was the last real ‘conservative’ thing the Republicans have done?

[Supreme Court? Roberts pretzeled to come up with support for Obamacare. Alito is good, but only became Miers got too much flack, so the Alito nomination only garners 1/2 point.]

An excellent idea. Even though PA has closed primaries, many states don’t and because of that we’ve allowed the left to pick our presidential candidates for several elections cycles now. Republicanism, as practiced by the national party, is dead.

What are the options?

Not supporting the liberals in the GOP is a good thing. I didn't vote for the liberal Romney, and I won't vote for a liberal in the next election, regardless of party.

I totally agree with you, however..........
I became so fed up with this party that I switched my party affiliation to Independent, writing a letter to my congressman, Andy Harris. After many months, I still receive emails from Harris thanking me for my support....they are on deaf ears.

Rather strange that I see the day that freepers would fervently oppose bombing people who support terrorism and Saddam Hussein. I remember when Syria was considered a terrorist-supporting state. I remember that we complained because Obama was cozying up to Assad. Syria is an enemy of Israel.

We have Democrats crying for war and Republicans crying against it. Strange times.

Right. So what you gonna do now? Vote only for independents? Go “Libertarian”?

What are the options?

So what are you saying, that we're "trapped"?

Bull.

Yep. We should organized a day upon which every disaffected registered Republican would go and change their registration to Independent, or something else. If we got enough people to do it, it would be noticed.

It hinges on how much of a world police the US is/should be.

For many, the argument boils down to: What compelling interest do we have in Syria?

How many deaths of American soldiers is that ‘compelling interest’ worth?

Really? So you gonna vote for baby killing Democrats?

Your only other option is to quit voting altogether. Unless you can find races in which conservatives are running as Independents? I guess you could “join” one of the fringe parties like the “Constitutional” party or the “Green” Party or the Libertarian Party, so technically speaking, you aren’t necessarily “trapped”, just marginalized.
