Reuters Jeff Mason and Mark Felsenthal report: John Boehner, Republican speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, said on Tuesday he would support President Barack Obama's call for military action in Syria and urged his colleagues in Congress to do the same. Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Obama at the White House, Boehner said the United States had to respond to the use of chemical weapons in Syria and show allies that America would stand up when necessary.

Spokesmen for House Speaker John Boehner just blasted out an email in response to requests for clarification over Boehner’s comments.
The statement from spokesman Michael Steel says this:
“The Speaker offered his support for the president’s call to action, and encourages all Members of Congress to do the same. Now, it is the president’s responsibility to make his case to the American people and their elected representatives. Everyone understands that it is an uphill battle to pass a resolution, and the Speaker expects the White House to provide answers to Members’ questions and take the lead on any whipping effort. All votes authorizing the use of military force are conscience votes for members, and passage will require direct, continuous engagement from the White House.”

That’s why boner won’t be primaried. His opponent will be destroyed even if the “machine” has to make stuff up. And they are capable of making stuff up!

Clearly, the ballot box is no longer the answer.

He should go join his alqeada buddies in the Syrian rebels and leave the US out of it.

I am calling them now,,getting the recording “we’re experiencing heavy call traffic”

He has the nerve to play patriotic music. I left a “friendly” message as well.

We need to keep calling! I am calling Cantor and Cornyn next.

IF the evidence is so compelling, take it to the UN!

Can you hear that low-pitched whirring sound? It's Georege Washington turning in his grave.

Democrats are always wrong; as in, never right.

Any time Republicans agree with Democrats, Republicans are wrong. Republicans agree with Democrats far too often.

Republicans do not oppose Democrats as nearly as often as they should.

Bipartisn is BS.

I never can get anyone to answer at John Cornyn’s office so I sent an email. Eric Cantor is next.

If there is anyone left in the House of Representatives who has a spine, we’ll see a new Speaker at the start of the next session.

Boehner gives Barry a nooner and now goes into CYA mode.

Strange PR statement given that Boehner didn’t bring us up to speed on what the response to his letter to the kenyan was. How can he support war when obama has done NONE of what he asked him to do in the letter. It makes no sense.

Eric Cantor’s voice mail is full so sent an email. These weasels are ALL in HIDING! Next it is the RNC, to tell them I will no longer be registered as a Republican based on today’s developments.

“I am simply at a loss otherwise to understand how any man with responsibility to his party and patriotism toward his country could behave as Boehner has.”

Obviously his loyalties, and those of a great many in the Republican Party, lie elsewhere. The simple fact of the matter is that the American public are not being represented in a manner meant to address the “...general welfare...” of the people. Unfortunately there is no end of trouble in sight.

I appreciate your insightful observations and statements.

I knew the GOP would cave to The One, but will admit I thought it would take longer than five minutes. Spineless wimps.

I called my reps this morning saying no military action against Syria. Probably won’t do any good, but it may if enough people call.

Good for you, Starboard!

This is exactly what is needed--if enough people call, the cretins in DC will be running for cover.

By helping the rebels, we are helping Al Qaeada. That needs to stop.

Especially when we will marking 12 years since 9/11/01 and one year since Benghazi next week.

Here's where you all can find your reps and call them in DC: www.senate.gov

www.house.gov

Make the call—now—this is your country and YOUR military.

Say no to Syria military action!

Let Allah sort it out!!!

yada, yada, yada...

That’s basically what the Bobbsey Twins said yesterday (from the White House) after their meeting with Obama.

Looking tough...LOL!

We’ve seen this before. Call me a cynic, but now that Obama has Congress on his hook, all he needs to do is reel them in for the vote-— and then prosecute the war like Congress didn’t even exist.

The war $ will get interesting:

Thanks SoFlo. I just sent them a message and will call them now. I am leaving the RNC, period. The leadership is spineless and disgusting and I don’t want any part of it.

I think what is most galling is that this is another preemptive surrender. These beltway GOP guys just DO NOT GIVE A DAMN about Main St. anymore. It’s all about what K Street, Wall Street and the mega donors want.
