In May, TheBlaze told you about Aaron and Melissa Klein, owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, an Oregon-based bakery that has fallen under intense scrutiny. Throughout 2013, the Christian couple and their business have been in the midst of a media firestorm after refusing to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.
From threats to vicious phone calls and e-mails, the Klein family has been inundated with angry responses. Now, Aaron and Melissa have announced that they are shutting down their shop.
In a brief phone interview earlier this month, Melissa told TheBlaze that the couple has continued to face upheaval following their faith-based decision. Just days after we spoke, she and her husband announced that this past weekend was the familys last at its current location.
The business will be transitioning, with the Kleins operating, instead, from their home.
This will be our last weekend at the shop we are moving our business to an in home bakery, read a post on the companys Facebook page on Aug. 30.

Strange, I don't recall this information being reported by the "news" media......
Oh, wait! They would if it was "vicious phone calls and emails" directed at homos. not from homos! Liberals get a pass at being able to harass those they do not like.
Most of my life I’ve been a “live and let live” kinda guy - - you mind your business, I’ll mind mine.
But anymore I am really starting to hate faggots.

The revolutionaries who upset the establishment to put the Bolsheviks into power don’t fare well, because they usually aren’t happy with the new order either. Especially once the realities of “From each according to his abilities, and to each according to his needs” begins to sink in and they find themselves being herded into a factory or a farm instead of just getting a bunch of free stuff that they they thought they’d get.
So, the Marxists usually dispose of them quickly. After all, you can’t make communism work with a horde of useless eaters. (You can’t make it work without them either, but at least you can prolong the lie a bit longer if everyone is working themselves to death.)
They do—all the time.
I'm a big believer in spreading the pain. Section 8 housing should be zoned next door to federal judges. Affirmative action quotas should be maintained and enforced in Yeshivas. And every federal employee, starting with Harry Reid, should be on Obamacare.

They should start an Internet order business, if they already haven’t. I suspect plenty of conservatives around the country would be glad to do business with them.
“I want to know all the Catholic business owners and I intend to patronize their business and only their business.”
I don’t know if they are Catholic, but they profess to be Chrisitans, and they are standing up for the truth of God’s Word at personal sacrifice. They have been harassed as well. I’ve been a Christian for a long time and I’ve seen Christians helping Christians and NON-Christians all the time. Before I became a Christian, a true, born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, the One who saved me from my sins, I never noticed or cared.
There are many businesses that I boycott (including GM and all TARP banks), and many that I patronize for political reasons (including Chik-fil-A). I comment on those spending decisions often here on FR and elsewhere in the hope that more conservatives will join in. There are a huge number who boycott GM because of their corruption, but we need to expand the list of local and national businesses that are shunned.
Even if they did bake a cake for them, they’d still sue saying they sabotaged the cake with nuts and bolts and needles and stuff.
I hope they get rich.
Does operating out of their home make them not liable for the law they were convicted under?
Would it then not say that they are offering a service to the public?
I’d prefer some way of attacking that ruling rather than using a work-around. But legal help is expensive, so I understand the desire to do work-arounds.
Personally, I think the law violates their right to free exercise. If they wish to view their whole lives affected by their religion, then that is exactly what free exercise means.
To many are trying to interpret it as “free worship” which it isn’t.
Could they not position themselves as “Christian Business”, having only certain Religious designs?
After reading about the neighborhood bar that was ruled against in a discrimination suit (LGBT...), transitioning to private clubs/organizations may be the only path forward. They can qualify members by their choosing and ban whomever they want.
Otherwise, one could put a sign up the reads “proceeds from sales to the LGBT community will go to x conversion therapy center.”
Charge more money for "gay" wedding cakes. Any gay couple that would serve their guests a cake made by a place that served them under duress is nuts.
muslims advocate the DEATH of gays..
but, have you EVER even ONCE heard of an incident like this where the supposed “homophobe” was a muslim?
I haven’t.
They only pick on Christians.
I think they could, but that wouldn’t prevent a lesbian couple from ordering one of those cakes. They didn’t want to participate in any way in a lesbian wedding.
If it was more, like they didn’t want to put two female figurines on top of the cake, or put pro-lesbian wording on the cake, then your idea would probably work.
If it was total rejection of even selling one of their cakes to be used in such a wedding, then the lesbians might choose a religious themed cake. Then what do you do?
Wonder what would have happened if they spent the entire time talking about Jesus and the sinfulness of lesbianism. Do you think that couple still would have wanted to buy their cakes?
Of course I don’t know of too many lesbian couples that would want to order a religious-themed cake.
I’m a United Methodist minister.
I hear of too many.
It’s a hazard of the profession. :>)
