With the President poised to strike in Syria and the Congress set to vote on the issue the week of Sep. 9, the debate about U.S. military intervention in the two-year-old civil war is already happening amongst the American public.
Some Americans have made their voices known to their representatives, while many others have said the U.S. should stay out of the conflict, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
In the poll, only 20% said the U.S. should take action, although that was up from 9% last week. Even if it's clear the Assad regime used chemical weapons on civilians, only 29% said the U.S. should intervene.

Absolutely...
Government routinely betrays Americans, breaks the law, and operates outside the Constitutions.
Those who continue to be good subjects are part of the problem and are guilty of aiding and abetting.
The military is being abused as the worlds policemen at great cost of lives and limb and for what end.
Iraq we have given back and it has sunk into utter distruction and Afghanistan will be no different.
Freepers have the pulse of the military and a tight grip on reality.
Can anyone explain to me what gain we have for all of the soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and civillian support to the military that gave their lives or were maimed in these locations?
Mr. amateur hour, AKA President Obama telegraphs every military move and loves to get in front of the cameras and talk about things he doesnt understand like he is intelligent.
He has no foreign affairs experience, military experience, business experience and I bet my paycheck he has no teaching experience.
John Kerry and Chuck Hagel are the last persons we need on watch in a time on crisis.
If we attack Syria, whats coming next will make Bengazi look like a traffic ticket.
You post cute pics and in response as you totally evade the questions?
Ya see that tag line below?
You define it el perfecto.
When I was an Army officer 40 years ago, my battalion CO had an interesting take. He said that it was normal for NCO’s to gripe. That was part of being an NCO. But if the NCO’s stop griping, you’d better watch out because that means they’re going to take direct action.
they will never forgive him for umbrella stunt
he is getting exactly what he caused
think Colonel Terry Lakin
I’m against nation building. I’m against getting involved in Syria. We should stay out of it, as it’s of no interest to us.
“John Kerry and Chuck Hagel are the last persons we need on watch in a time on crisis.
If we attack Syria, whats coming next will make Bengazi look like a traffic ticket.”
Agreed and agreed.
"Girly Man Vs. Muslim Butcher !!"
the Hatch Act has been in place forever
Military is supposed to keep quiet about politics
Nothing new
look, the military does not have to say anything
if they get an assignment from someone they don’t trust, the assignment will not happen
our military was strong because each member was trained to act independently and legally
that does not necessarily mean “ours not to reason why, ours but to do or die”
they have a duty to inform the higher ups that the plan won’t work, is stupid, they think it is a mistake
this ain’t a video game
>>Totally inappropriate. He shouldnt be making political statements in uniform.
If we were still a nation of law, Id agree. But, the US government has gone rogue. Cabinet members are violating their oaths of office. The President is out of control. Elections are rigged. The courts are corrupt. We are being bankrupted as the nations wealth is siphoned off to a select few.
When George Washington presented himself to the Continental Congress, he wore his military uniformthe one he wore in service to the King.
These men are patriots. They have a rare courage in this day of comfort and luxury. They dont hide their faces out of cowardice. They hide their face because they represent hundreds of thousands of brothers-in-arms who feel the exact same way.
Well said.
A POTUS does not leave men to die in a situation like Benghazi.......it was only a matter of time before this coward received blowback from the warriors.
A POTUS does not allow a warrior to hold his umbrella.
A POTUS does not send warriors into battle to fight WITH and FOR the enemy who murdered over 3000 countrymen on September 11, 2001.
Therefore, it only stands to reason that an American warrior can also draw red lines.
Also very well said.
So many great comments on this thread. I agree with you 100% as well.
“they have a duty to inform the higher ups that the plan wont work, is stupid, they think it is a mistake
this aint a video game”
I agree. I don’t know where you think I stated otherwise. My initial, and only, point about the picture was that you can’t protest in uniform...that’s it.
Egypt is a shining example of how to do it.
>>Something about this smells funny, dont you think Shirley?
Yes. The whole thing stinks. Who would have ever thought that the government would become so corrupt and the people would become so lazy and complacent that the military would start moving in the direction of a coup. This is a baby step, to be sure, but it is still a step.
Maybe that law is a rotten law.
Maybe that law is a rotten law.
Should have added - there are miles and miles of stacks of rotten laws.
Even those drooling in cups knew what the outcome would be.
The morons who supported the compassionate war cock'nbull insanity will tell ya we only needed another 3 trillion in tax dollars, 10,000 more American bodies and just another 5 or 20 years to pull it off....They'd still be cheering and talking big sh*t as our guys were getting picked off in 2020 for Gods sake.
We gained nothing, we won nothing...But it sure in hell cost thousands of blown up people and *trillions* in American treasure...
The Hatch Act is from 1939. Times were a bit different then, and the world was facing something quite different from today. And maybe even then it wasn’t so great, who knows. But just because a law has been on the books since 1939 doesn’t mean it is a good or constitutional law.
