The wife of George Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watch captain acquitted in the Feb. 2012 shooting death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, pleaded guilty this morning to a misdemeanor charge of perjury in a plea deal, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

Shellie Zimmerman was sentenced to serve one year of probation under the deal, designed to avoid a felony conviction, reports the paper.

Shellie Zimmerman was accused of lying during one of her husband's bond hearings last year. She allegedly told a judge that the couple had no money, when they reportedly had received more than $130,000 in donations from internet donors who wanted to aid in her husband's defense.

The couple reportedly talked about the donations in recorded phone calls at the Seminole County jail, just days before the bond hearing during which she was accused of lying....

I wish I could find the old Bloom County cartoon panel, with Opus and Binkley gloating over a gossip column saying “WE HAVE A SCANDAL!”

Because that is EXACTLY what the Left will do with this.

This is a slap on the wrist. It prevents the prosecution from embarrassment of an acquittal and saves her any risk of a felony conviction. If that beatch of a prosecutor thought she could win this she would have gone to trial.

That's been my hunch, too, colorado tanker. I suspect Florida—aided and abetted by the U.S. Department of so-called "Justice," of course—brought the charge as a means to fend off law suits by George Zimmerman.

Government dirty tricks and law breaking are the most insidious of all.

I have seen plenty of lies told under oath, but I’ve never seen one prosecuted. This was just vindictive.

If it was for the defense, wouldn't the lawyers have gotten that money? Therefore, they may not have had any money.

But the Trayvon Lobby needs to have somebody named Zimmerman convicted of something, I guess.

Let’s understand what this plea deal is for:

She is assenting to the fact that the presiding judge was too lazy to request that the keeper of the PayPal account be put on the phone after she made the offer.

Everyone said there was absolutely no case against her. Why would she plead guilty?

She saw what happened to her husband and didn't want the stress and risk of a trial?

She's broke?

Both of the above?

She told the judge that she didn’t know how much was in the paypal account, but that her brother-in-law did. The judge never bothered contacting the brother-in-law. There is no perjury, just the usual Lefty judicial corruption.
