ON PRAYER
The Sacred Scriptures urge us to pray always. That seems impossible at first sight; you can't spend your life on your knees. But people pray in many ways. Physical positions and movements, the lotus position for Buddhists, kneeling and folding hands for many Christian faith groups, are prayer. Any attention paid to God is prayer. Whether or not any words are spoken, the actions themselves express awareness of, and communication with, God. As St. Teresa of Avila put it, way back in the 16th century, "For though we are always in the presence of God, it seems to me that those who practice prayer are especially so, because they can see all the time that God is looking at them; whereas others may be in the Lord's presence for several days without ever remembering that God can see them." Age fights me as well - and will prevail in the end.
But today I enjoyed a few hours in the front garden - with the help of my son David and my "son" Jean Michel, a youth from Haiti and friend of John Man and David, I got a lot done. We cut the roses back severely - lots of old wood that had to go. They don't look like much now but they should be in fine form next year.
David sheared my spreading yew back into the rectangular shape I like for it. He and Michel also pulled lots of ivy that was getting out-of-bounds. The ivy was given to me by my father in 1990, shortly after we took possession of Castle MacNessa.
A lot of weeds pulled and general cleanup.

Yes...but we Pay People to know this stuff, and still end up doing all the leg work ourselves.

Good morning, E...((HUGS))...busy, busy last few days. Fell asleep at the computer.
All my siblings, one each from CA, TN, and TX, and my sister’s daughter from WA, all came up for my Dad’s service at the National Cemetery. All will have headed home by Monday.
A Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Very nice that you and the boys were able to get your front garden under control and back into shape.
It is good to see the fruits of your labor.

There are some things that fall in the category of “if you want it done right, do it yourself”.
