"He would steal -- he was a professional thief, sure," David Coulter said. "But he would never pick up a gun, not in a million years. He was too scared to aim a gun at the grass, let alone aim it at a person. No way. Before he'll ever pick up a gun, he'll be your friend first.
And at 2 am the homeowner is supposed to know this how?
Oh! Well then....Everybody! He didn't use a gun when ROBBED people!....I feel so frigging much better!
NO about to join the Floridian club of jury verdict by law.
What kind of friends break into your house at 2 am?
One less criminal. Who cares?
You damned sure wouldn't get a "Guilty" out of me. In my book, you come to my house to steal, you come to die. Even if I have to drag your dead ass into the kitchen and stuff a butcher knife in you cold dead fingers.
So the punk was a professional thief who would rob you of your livelihood but would never rob you of your life.
Boo freakin hoo.
You rob me of my lifes works and earnings.
You would steal the scrap of bread that I have earned and leave me to starve and die.
I got your philosophy right here punk.
and the neighbor didn’t call the cops when he saw these yoots casing the house because he didn’t want to profile a “black child” just out biking at 1AM
I’d say once someone jumps your fence they are an intruder, not a suspected intruder
If the homeowner called the cops, they’d probably show up, confiscate his gun, terrorize his family and shoot his dog
No good deed goes unpunished.
If Obama had a son, he’d be severely brain damaged.
I don’t want a friend like that. But by this tie next month, he will be as pure as the driven snow. He will be a saint.
No mention if he was a white hispanic so I am assuming...
First off, does a homeowner have a legitimate right to protect their property? The thief wasn’t breaking into the home. He was apparently breaking into the homeowner’s car. So, does a guy have a right to leave the safety of their home and confront a thief that’s outside? If the answer is yes, then it’s only reasonable to assume a thief is armed until proven otherwise.
If the article accurately depicted the facts of the case, then I don’t see how the homeowner could have known the thief was unarmed. Maybe the homeowner shot the thief in cold blood. That will need to be proven, and it misses the larger point. The THIEF is the one who initiated this entire, nasty chain of events, not the homeowner. Don’t steal and one is unlikely to get gunned down for stealing. I think that’s the key lesson.
"No more Travvons!"
"No more Trayvons!"
(Will be shouted before the riot begins...Sanford was to small for a riot. NO at 68% Black is prime territory)
Professional burglars never carry guns.
Now how was this homeowner supposed to know this kid was a “professional”?
Hoo wee. So the boy never used a gun? I’m guessing he will never use one now.
As far as I'm concerned, Good Shoot.
You mess around in somebody's yard at 2 in the morning looking to burglarize and get shot, too bad, so sad, nuff said.
Cased closed. Next!
Seriously, get off my lawn!
Shot near the back door of a home at ~2AM after jumping a not-insubstantial fence. The “kid” wasn’t there by accident and at 2AM was up to no good. No bill from me.
