That gun sales have dropped can be construed as a moral victory of sorts for the left-wing, liberal gun opponents. Also, a win for the government for implementing policies that have preventing the sales of guns. Reflexively, reading the headline had me perceive it as bad news,(for gun owners, gun lobby, the government interfering successfully with my inalienable Constitutional right to bear arms). But the fact is, it makes no difference in what the Constitution, the Second Amendment allows, says as far as purchasing, owning guns are concerned, a drop in gun sales does nothing, changes nothing.
The article itself says that gun sales are dropping in relative terms, after a huge spike in gun sales, that gives an overall false perception of what is happening.
Obama finally has the Mexican druggies and Al Qaeda fully armed up.
LOL..Because our wives an girlfriends are geting tired of looking at us in our closet safes surrounded by a 150 gun display and saying “Honey, I like shooting too and a few of those are mine, but, we each only have two hands....and rent/mortgage”.
To me the graph just shows the seasonality of firearms sales. Apparently fewer firearms are purchased in the summer, probably because people are busy with other pursuits, it isn’t hunting season yet, and Christmas shopping hasn’t started yet. And of course the rate of firearms purchases drops off some when the liberal Democrats aren’t as busy trying to subvert the Bill of Rights.
Because those who have wanted them now have them. You can fire only so many weapons at a time. Those that have purchased guns are locked and loaded!
Perhaps the public is learning that “straw buyers” can work to their advantage as well. Knowing what you now know about the government and its voyeurism and control issues, would you still prefer to buy a gun from someone with a class III BATF&E license, or just a private sale with no background check?
What they call “the gun show loophole”, should instead be called “the gun liberty loophole”. If the government doesn’t know you have it, they can’t confiscate it.
Eventually, when someone is diagnosed with a terminal disease, they might get their medicine subsidized by straw buying guns for resale at a 10% markup. Not a bad price for a “clean” gun.
There is seasonality in the gun business, which is being reflected in that graph. The overall trend is up (look at the trend of the peaks).
Bump is an economic dunce who doesn’t understand the concept of “market saturation.” Everybody who wants one, has one now.
Everyone has what they wanted. Now as a poster said - stock up on ammo.
I imagine private sales have increased proportionately to the number of people who have been pushed into poverty on Obamanomics.
I’ve got all the guns and ammo I need. I’ll run out of food before I run out of ammo and guns.
You can only buy so many guns, and we kind of went all out back when Toomey and Manchin were having a love-in.
Its more simple than that. Everyone that wants to buy a gun has committed to buy one. Everyone else is planning on where to commit a crime where the people are’t armed.
I have more guns than I can feed. Theres no point in buying another gun i cant feed. I don’t need statistical data to know lots of folks are buying up the ammo I’m looking for.
Well, an indiction that they are slowing is that my last background check (state of colorado) took 5 minutes. 3 or 4 hours last year.
We’re not thinking about guns right now. We’re thinking about family time, camping, vacations, and back to school.
If there is another Sandy Hook type event, with more liberal spit flying, sales will go back up.
My wife put me on a gun collecting budget.
