I think the County may be immune from any damages based on them not putting the fire out.
For starting the fire however.....

Wasn't there a radio transmission of cops saying something like "light her up?"

I would think that somebody has coverage for the damage. If they owner has insurance then the insurance carrier should pay and restore then subbrogate it to the County.

rouge, eh? I knew he had mental issues, but I hadn’t heard he was a cross-dresser.
Well, it IS L.A. maybe men wearing rouge is de rigueur.

When have we heard of government firing tear gas and starting a fire...hmmm!

The owner of a Barton Flats cabin has filed a claim against San Bernardino County saying sheriffs deputies allowed it to burn during a standoff with rouge former Los Angeles police officer Christopher Dorner. I thought he was black.
Flippin' idjit writers.

“The vacation rental caught fire after authorities fired tear gas inside”
Well that and bulldozing one whole side of the cabin before torching it with kerosene torches. Audio of the whole thing clearly heard on numerous tapes.

I thought I remembered the owner of cabin going on TV saying he would not seek damages because he agreed with the police tactics or something. So much for that.

Arson under cover of authority.
They should be asking for full replacement cost, treble damages and whatever exemplary and punitive damages the court sees fit to impose.

That would have been the tear gas canister with the big red X on it, the one that burns extra hot due to the thermite inside.
