Earlier I asked the question "Why no riots yet". I think I may have the answer. Most of the thugs who have been twitting and mouthing the hate, predictions, threats, etc., during the last two weeks are dependent upon the entititlements of the gubmint. That includes directions and orders. Since the gubmint has only said they are investigating the events about this incident, the thugs do not know what to do. Until Zero, or Sharpton, Jackson, or NAACP tells them to do something they are lost.
On a more grim note, why no investigation into the 11,000 murders that have occurred since the gangsta was shot? Many of those were infants and pre-teens. But no comment from Zero, Sharpton, Jackson, or the NAACP so no problem.
Wouldn't that be normal, though? Pants are always down.
While perusing the comments on this thread, I turned on the tv, and the local news is giving lots of airtime to small pockets of protestors around the state. The media is continuing to fan the flames of racism, and will get their riots if it’s the last thing they do.
“a weird combination of crazy eyes...”
I just saw on the news a small group of protesters in Dallas last night led by....Cynthia McKinney.
That’s exactly who I would choose to lead something I consider serious..rolls eyes.
All quiet here in Atlanta. Went to Walmart and came out unscathed. Staying out the mall for awhile though. :-)
Will not happen and by the end of the week all this will be forgotten and what you will hear is “George who?” or “Trayvon who?”
That sounds about right.
It’s too hot. The thugs had rather sit under the A/C.
And the men are always grubby-looking, and the women are always skanky-looking.
Ah heck, I hate to say it, but they are a lot like us anymore. A whole lottta internet bitchin’ is so much easier than actually showing up.
ducking!
A well armed population is a polite population?
Also because you have to remember it is the middle of summer and way too hot to riot.
"Stealing something" is the personal self interest that motivated most of the rioters in 92 and the Katrina looters. Another commenter pointed out that they chased almost all the business out of their neighborhoods and they would have to go too far to do any serious looting. That and more storekeepers have guns in their establishments and are more likely to use them. Many if not most of them have seen vids of the LA and Miami riots and have been impressed with the Koreans' and Cubans' guns and readiness to use them. Like the great majority of such people they are not Big Brave Men out to Face Danger to Right a Wrong, they are looking for safe easy loot, not dangerous loot.
Plus a lot of ministers have stepped up to the plate, and a number of Bible-holding grandmothers, mothers, and aunts WARNED their dear ones NOT to react with violence to the verdict.
Oh, I would like little better than to throw all this under the rug and move onto greater things.
But then I look cross the aisle to the Left, and I know better.
You got a good point about social media; it lets people blow off steam.
And yes, L.A., even prior to Rodney King’s encounter with the LAPD, was a powderkeg searching for a match. The Rampart Scandal of a few years later showed that issues of police corruption wasn’t just a few liberals and community organizers whining about nothing - the Rampart Scandal has to be one of the worst police corruption scandals I can recall in my lifetime of 43 years.
Hell, it even led to a great TV show: “The Shield”, and served as an inspiration for the film “Training Day”.
