Bernie is a very apt skipper though. I give him that.I totally agree with that.
He's been told to take a group of people out on a fishing trip on a boat with no engine, no rudder, no lights, no fishing poles, and holes all over the bottom. The only supply he was given was smelly bait.
That he has made it back to shore without the passengers drowning is remarkable.

Judge is making 2nd degree murder sound like it’s a casual charge.

Thanks for that information. I’ve been hoping to hear some first hand accounts of how things are there.
Be careful.

WTF TV. Courtroom is on lockdown.
To: onyx
They should say what the penalties could carry for each charge so the juries take this more seriously.

Manslaughter - lesser.
So unfair that the penalty can’t be related to jury.

It would be speculation.... but then... most of the prosecution’s case has been speculation requiring the jury to use “common sense” rather than evidence.

Jury is paying very close attention.
To: A CA Guy
Yes. It’s so unfair that the jury cannot know the penalties.

They must request specific testimony be read back to them. They do not get a copy of the transcript.

“Judge is making 2nd degree murder sound like its a casual charge.”
Shouldn’t the jurors ALSO know what the potential prison sentences are for each of those verdict options?

I was a jury foreman on a murder trial. Defendant claimed self defense too. Our instructions were 39 pages long. (oklahoma). That was in 1992. I still have the instructions.
