Day 24 (Week #5) Zimmerman Trial – Final Day – Probably a Verdict before dinner [No, Jury Adjourned]

Today, July 12th, is DAY #24 (of 5th week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case.

Yesterday the prosecution provide closing arguments (Summary: http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/07/states-closing-argument-two-hours-of-raising-doubt).

Today the defense attorney, Mark O’Mara will present his closing argument. Then the prosecution rebuttal.

I lost my internet connection about 20 minutes ago and am just now getting it back. When I left, Guy was still bloviating. Where do we now stand?

This jury is tired of being sequestered and wants to go home. They've delayed breaks and lunch times to move things along. Any juror who wants to play games and decide on emotion rather than the FACTS and the LAW will be dealt with by fellow jurors. Those tears, if any, will quickly dry up.

Seems like the prosecution strategy in rebuttle was to undermine reasonable doubt by introducing the notion of reasonable doubt of reasonable doubt. I guess that's what you do when you don't have a strong positive case. They had their weaker lawyer float the weak positive case during closing arguments, then sent their stronger lawyer to undercut doubt during rebuttal.

For what reason do they have to go through it all again? They have already seen essentially all of it once. If they already drew a conclusion they can all agree on, they don’t have to look at ANY of the evidence again.

Much more likely there will be many points of agreement and maybe a few questions that separate them — in which case they’ll take another look at PART of the evidence to resolve the questions.

On this one, I still predict in-and-out fairly quickly.

Of course I could be wrong, but that’s my gut.

But long term trials tend to most only include government employees, people on the dole and welfare folks.

So, IMO you have lots of Obama Phone users making the call on this verdict.

Some AP Reporter suggested Juror B-29 had a tear in her eye. Everyone freaked out. Hung Jury. Another reporter who's been there since day one said the following: bob kealing ‏@bobkealing 3m B-29 has rubbed her eyes from time to time but I don’t think she’s crying. Local CBS station banned from courtroom for taking pics from helicopter of jurors walking to the courthouse. Jurors are eating lunch.

I don't think she did. I think she told the truth about that part.

SO.... why did Trayvon, safely 'home' leave and go back to where he would run into George Zimmerman ?

Just to beat on him ? NOPE. That wasn't the plan.

Trayvon had to go back to where he hid from George , when George first sighted him, which was the bushes where they found the burglary tool described by Detective Serino.

It would be 'evidence' and besides he needed it back. So, he goes back to get it, and guess WHO is walking by on the sidewalk while Trayvon is in the bushes hunting for his burglary tool?

Good Ole George. Well, now, Trayvon is in a jam. Same guy is back and too close. Guy was on the phone and probably called the cops. This guy can now ID him better, being closer. WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO.

Jump out, sucker punch him, take his phone in case he had video and so he can't call police after you beat him into unconsciousness. Then go find the burglary tool and beat it home before the cops do arrive.

EXCEPT, the plan went awry because George had a gun.

Also, WPLG South Florida, has focused on jurors with their Twitter reports. No mention of tears from B-29 even though they make several reports on her taking notes, etc., today.

Nope, it’s decided at the last get together and it’s done!

I don’t know, all this chatter about female jurors and a female judge, which btw, she looks nothing close to a female in my opinion...but, I find it so ironic that people will notice the fine job MOM is doing and yet, rant over a female jury when in fact, MOM had the final say on his choices and it’s been said (even I have repeated it over and over) that his method for choosing the jury was go good that it needs to be taught in law school.

Being a female, I guess I just believe that women on a whole are not nearly as dense and/or emotional as they get painted. Some are, no doubt about it. Some are not, and that is a fact. I’m guessing every guy on this board can tell a story about a cold hearted women they once had in their lives. Heck, I’ve come across enough posts to suggest that there are many ex wives running around who are just ruthless! But, I digress. My point is this, each of those women will bring something unique to the deliberations and it’s foolish to assume that on a whole, they are all just blubbering masses of emotion who will weep for little skittles and swoon over lawyer mcdreamy.

My prayers are constant for them, for their guidance to the truth and evidence they have seen and heard.
