The spring on my 1974 Porsche 914 broke while I was headed home one night. A dark windy road that I had driven many times at speeds well over the posted limit. I realized the problem as I was winding through curves at 85 MPH. I recovered by turning the ignition off and coasting to a stop. Getting a good flatbed tow truck took 5 hours. I wasn't a happy camper. Thereafter, I carried a set of short bungie cords that could be hooked in place to get me home. Replacing the spring was the easy part.
It is beginning to become a little clearer why "journalists" love 0bama so much - they also like living.
What is really coincidental is the story on Drudge. Breaking News photographer, Scott Lane, just happened to have his camera on, parked at just the right intersection when Hastings went racing by at 1:00 am and then just sat there for the next 30 seconds so that he could report that no one was chasing Hastings. Pretty convenient to have a reporter on hand to establish that Hastings was not being chased, at least at that intersection.
Upon hearing Scott Lane’s story, I am now convinced that this was a ‘hit’ by Obuma. you know the Chicago way.
Anyone who does not believe that the Democratic Party and the Mafia (generic for organized crime) are one and one and the same probably also believe that Obuma is a Christian and was born in Hawaii.
Not on a car with electronic throttle control. That would be any car 2005 or newer. The PCM (powertrain control Module) has full control of the accelerator. ABS, skid control and traction control have brake control. If all ABS solenoids were in pressure reduction mode (hacked) there would be no brakes. Electric power steering on many new cars too. All computer controlled.
Have you seen the new ‘ignition’ in the newest cars?
There is no key. The key fob fits into a recess in the dash, out of sight. There is a button to start and stop the engine. It also can be disabled electronically.

You appear to be correct. So.... where were the cops ? That was a police radio conversation he was listening to. How did he make so many turns at such HIGH SPEEDS ? The reporter with the car cam had to make several turns, IIRC.
I know what you are stating. That is all true.
BUT.... there is a spring on the accelerator pedal. Otherwise, it would never return to full up position. All the electronics in the world doesn't change the design of the accelerator pedal itself.
Now... I doubt that this is the way they rigged it (assuming they did) because it would involve access to the inside and underhood of the car. Possbile, but not likely.
It is more likely that they just accessed the car computer via a wireless link. If your vehicle has Cruise Control, it can push the pedal FOR YOU. If it gets a signal the FLOOR IT, that's what it does.
If you mash the brakes and the gas, the gas wins.
That beer bottle was probably there for a while, but they DID ZOOM AND HOLD on it for a while, for no particular KNOWN reason.
I've had my throttle stick open before. It happened in a muscle car (of course) while I was getting on the freeway. By the time I decided just to turn off the ignition, I was already doing 95 in a 55 zone. Apparently the accelerator pump piston was worn and the plunger got stuck in the bore. (Rebuilding the carburetor solved THAT problem.)
A friend of mine was with me, and his response was classic. As I'm frantically trying to pull the accelerator pedal up with my foot and then my hand, he calmly asks, "why are we going so fast?"

Maybe there was nothing to see, but what was the reporter DOING or LISTENING to on the police radio during that time?
Another 'unknown', like WHERE WAS HASTINGS just prior to his 3am Sidestreet Racing Career ?
Some one knows. If it was a bar, or a friend's place, why haven't we heard from them ?
I asked the same question on that thread. A poster told me that it was a scanner he was listening to in his car, and he made 3-4 (edited) l/r turns, while Hastings went straight and crashed on the same blvd he blew thru the red light. You’d have to Google Earth the names of the streets; I don’t have their software downloaded, so I just took the poster’s word for it.
I can’t find the post, but he ticked-off the streets/blvds like he knew the area well.
In one of YT vids, there’s 2 ladder co fire engines parked there doing nothing about the fire, but no pumper, and no ambulances, and no cops. Weird. Yet other YT vids say the cops were there within minutes.

Have a 2002 M Class that the cruise control and one of the brake lights was on the same circuit. Brake light burned out and couldn’t turn off cruise control at 65 mph. Had to shift to neutral to stop, then turn off engine. Car recalled for this fault 2 years ago
